Carl's POV

"Can you trust me?" I ask in surprise. What kind of question is that? She's sleeping in my cell she's gonna have to trust me. "Uhh.... Yah, sure."

She nods and takes a deep breath. Does she really need to add all this drama? It's a simple question the answer could be as little as saying "Raiding" and nothing else.

"Before this all started I was that kid who everyone else would make fun of because I wasn't as mature as them and-"

" what does that have to do with anything?" I asked getting kind of annoyed. It seemed like she was avoiding the subject honestly.

She looked up and rolled her eyes, "If you weren't so damn annoying then you'd find out. Wouldn't ya'?" Harsh. "Anyways, I was always less mature but I was always smarter. I knew everything about the woods, I'd go fishing, hunting anything outdoors. When Chicago got infected my family made a plan to go South. They said we weren't safe anymore that if they got Chicago they could get us.

"We left Illinois and headed South but one night while we were on the outskirts of Georgia and Alabama I heard my family talking when they thought I was asleep. They were going to leave me behind saying that whatever, or whoever, came along could have me. They said they could care less what happened all they wanted was to live.

"Just then my cousin came back from a raid and said he heard about a place of salvation. The man who lead it was a man called the Governor. My mom glanced at me and said, 'Well, if it's a place of salvation we will all go but,' she looked at me and shook her head, 'we have to leave her.' My cousin tried to convince them otherwise but they wouldn't change their answer. About a week later I fell asleep in the back of the truck when I woke up I was in the hut you guys found me in and the door was open inviting walkers. My cousin, I found out, stayed with me but a few days later he went on a raid and never came back."

That was a lot to take in. One, her family might be here with us but I'm not gonna say that yet. And two, she and her family traveled all the way here from Illinois... whoa.

"Well," I try to make a little more of a conversation instead of major awkward silence, "my mom was pregnant and she had to have a C-section. I had to cut her open and later shoot her in the head so she didn't come back to life as a walker."

She let out a small fragile laugh and I give her a weird look. "Guess we've both had it pretty hard, huh?"

I give her small smile and nod, "Yah, umm... Let's call a truce for now at least. I mean you're going to need to have someone show you around introduce you. Right?"

She give a small nod and sticks out her hand to shake. I put mine out and we connect our hands. Man, her hands are tiny!

Emma's POV

We shake hands and then leave his, I mean our cell. He said he's going to show me around and introduce me to everyone. I hope everyone else and I start out on a better foot than Carl and I did.

We turn a corner and run into the Korean and a pretty brunette holding hands. Carl manages to stop right before colliding with the Korean but in my attempt to stop I skid and land on my face right in front of the girl.

"Crap, this is why I was kicked out od ballet when I was six" I say and shyly pick myself off the floor. Everyone around me laughs at my remark. But I don't think they realize that I was being legit.

When they calm down Carl introduces me formally to the Korean and what I presume his girlfriend(man I've called her a lot of things).

"This is my new cellmate we found her on a raid today he name is.." he glances at me and I remember that I've only said my name to Carol.

I nervously laugh, "Oh sorry I haven't told you my name yet. It's Emma, Emma Jameson."

The Korean nods, "Well, Emma, I see you and Carl have made up after you stuck a knife to his neck."

The brunette makes an unsure face and Carla and I laugh nervously.

"We called a truce" He says while rubbing the back of his neck.

"Oh, I'm Maggie by the way. Most people call me Mag but I don't care," the brunette says trying to get her name in before anyone else says anything.

I nod and stick my hand, "It's a pleasure to meet you Maggie."

She smiles and we shake hands.

"Well we gotta go take watch. I'm Glenn by the way, it was nice to formally meet ya'."

With that he and Mag walk away still holding hands.

"Are they a thing?" I ask turning to Carl.

He nods, "They're married actually. He cut a finger off a walker to get ring."

I grimace a little, "Romantic?" I say unsure.

He nods, "I know what you mean. Anyways there's a lot more people to se and meet, let's go!"

I smile and we start walking away Carl is pretty cool I guess.
