"How could I be so stupid? He would never like me, and he never will." Candy cried into her knees not too far away from her friends, but far enough for her tears not to be heard. She needed to be alone and never come back to reality. She needed to live in a fantasy where things actually went her way. But it couldn't happen, and it never would.

Candy got up, hearing the sound of her friends' character shoes. She ran away, not quite sure where she was going only knowing she had to go.

She closed her eyes not even caring about who or what she would bump into. But with that choice came her consequence, she collided with Mike who was dashing through the hall, doing the same exact thing.
She opened her eyes, frightened at the sight of his face. Her lips quivered, and surprisingly, his expression matched her's.

"Uh, sorry, um I have to go," She stammered.

"Wait! Candy! Stop!" Mike yelled pointlessly, for she was not going to stop running.

Though Candy refused to turn her head, she heard his quick footsteps from the distance. She cursed herself for being as slow as she was. Her breath quickened. She had to stop. She turned the corner and hid behind a table.

"Candy! Candy?" He look around but couldn't find her. She tried to catch her breath. "I know you're here." He had a calm voice as if he hadn't ran around the school campus. Unlike her. She was wheezing and stifling coughs.

"I just wanted to... I just..... I...." He couldn't find the words. He didn't actually know why he'd chased after her. "I'll.....I'll go." He started to walk away but stopped when he heard her.

"Mike! Wait!" 'What are you doing?' She thought to herself. 'You're an idiot. You can't do it.' She thought as he came closer. 'Candy the idiot.' Another step. 'Stupid.' Another. 'Idiot.' He stopped a couple steps away from her, probably to give her space.

"Why'd you follow me?" She asked. He had a confused look on his face but tried to hide it.

"I don't know actually." He smiled obviously embarrassed. She thought it was cute. "Why did you keep running when I called you?" He asked, a hint of pain in his eyes.

"I don't know. I didn't want you to see me crying." She cursed herself again. 'Now he's gonna ask -'

"Why were you crying?" He asked.

"People might be looking for us, we should go." She said trying to change the subject. She turned to head towards the building.

"Wait." He grabbed her hand. She gave a little gasp. She turned back around. "Don't go." She couldn't move if she wanted to. He walked closer. He was standing in front of her. Her heart skipped a beat as he pulled her toward him. She knew what he was going to do.
