The Fault... is Not in Our Stars

Marica sat uncomfortably with the giant's waiting eyes staring into her for an unknown but lengthy amount of time. Her skin constantly got warmer from the cloth, but his gaze made her insides cold. She didn't know what was worse: the utter calamity from yesterday or the complete nothingness of now.

Meanwhile, Vaughn tapped his fingers on the surfaces of his keyboard, anxious to make words and add to his notes. But alas, the little lady remained silent, focusing on everything that wasn't him. He understood that the size scenario was probably frightening on her end; however, he intended for her explanations to circumvent that. He just wanted to know why they were in his house and why she was with him now. There wasn't much difference between her actions and anything that a normal-sized fanatic or stalker could've done, and he wanted to let her know that.

Marica pondered in her own mind palace, unsure of where to begin until an overwhelming, sweet scent broke her out of it. Just like with his glass accessory, the human had jutted out something else at her without her noticing - a sliced strawberry piece pinched between his thumb and index finger, hovering at her chest level and above her lap. Having it so close to her and it being undeniably edible made her mouth begin to get wet again, but she was confused by the offer.

Luckily for her, Vaughn explained, trying to get the conversation rolling.

"I can only imagine how this all seems to you," he began with sympathetic eyes. "But, I swear I just want to talk. You look pretty beat already, and I don't need you passing out on me, okay? Take it. You know you want to."

The small soul hesitated, drawing her arms back at first, but she soon accepted the food, holding it like a steering wheel and taking a bite off the tip.

Vaughn could tell that she was more energized already and chuckled. "How about I just ask you the questions, and you just answer them back, okay?"

While she didn't feel completely safe, Marica had a feeling that slowly healing up on the tabletop was much safer than going back to attempting to find a way out. Plus, with the human being completely aware of her existence now, there was no way she could get down safely or securely on her own, especially without tools. So, she broke away from fruity ecstasy to respond to his question with a visible shrug.

"Alright then," Vaughn sighed happily, taking that as an acceptance and leaning back in the end chair, officially ready to begin. "It was never an intention to hurt you or anything, nor is it now, but I have a feeling that I wasn't supposed to find you, right?"

Marica let the relatively simple question fester in her head before getting ready to respond. But then, something clicked. Its answer seemed so easy... almost too easy. Would a 'No' answer suffice? Would that one, obvious word be enough to keep her alive and her peers free from harm? It just didn't make sense. She couldn't help but question it.

"Is it that simple?"

"Excuse me?"

Marica didn't expect a response from the giant, as she wasn't aware that she spoke aloud. However, after asking it and getting an equally confused tone from him, she didn't regret it. If this was how it was going to go down, possibly her last moments of free will, then submitting was the last thing that was going to come. She didn't come this far to just give in, and so she didn't.

"Does this whole shtick seem like it's going to be an easy task for you?" the fairy-like female quipped. "Is everything just a breeze to you?"

Vaughn's mouth widened, shocked by her questions, let alone her sudden switch in emotion. He hadn't expected food to make such a quick and large impact. However, her probing defensiveness was not likable.
