You need to make good grades Jane!

You need to go to summer school Jane!

You have to respect us Jane! We brought you into this world!

I silently wiped my eyes as I sat down at the nearest bus stop, my ratted brown hair was flat against my head due to running in the rain. Cars passed by as the water from their tires made soft splashing noises.

My phone began to buzz, I pulled it out of my pocket and saw it was my mom. My anger and frustration built up as I chucked it into the road, seconds later a car sped by causing me to hear a loud crack. I huffed loudly and ran a hand through my damp hair, the night sky was complemented by the many stars that softly glowed.

I knew many people would think it is stupid and selfish of me to runaway from home. But what they will never understand is that my home will never be a home. My mother, a five foot eight, one hundred and thirty five pound women with deadly green eyes and chocolate brown hair that is always tightly pulled back into a bun.

She is a straight up business women, I can never go to her for shit because she thinks everything is a conference. My mother is honestly the last person on earth I would want to talk to, reason one is because it's her dream for me to become a lawyer just like her.

My father, a six foot three, one hundred and eighty pound man with piercing blue eyes and shaggy dirty blonde hair that is always combed neatly. He treats everything as if we are in the OR, he one time preformed heart surgery on our Thanksgiving turkey.

Meaning less to say, my parents are straight up business people. To me it should be illegal for those kinds of people to even have kids in the first place. I can sadly remember for my fifth birthday my mother hired a lawyer to come in and talk about some cases he had done.

Janelle Grace Davis, you should be thankful to have me and your father as your parents, we just want what's best for you!

Salty tears spilt down my face as I quickly wiped them away with the back of my hand as the city bus pulled up. I quickly put a crumbled dollar bill in the container that read Pay Here and made my way to the back.

There were hardly any people on the small bus. I sat down next to the window and looked out as the bus started moving. Suddenly a black figure came out of no where and started chasing the bus. The bus driver stopped and the black figure got on the bus and shoved a dollar in the container before taking of their hood to reveal a boy.

His brown eyes caught my attention as he made his way down the isle way. We made eye contact which caused me to look away and try hold back a blush.

"Is this seat taken?" I looked up and could see his face better.

His olive skin glowed next to the light as his hair was a mess and damp. I shook my head slightly and looked down at my chipped nails. I felt him sit down next to me as the bus began to move, his eyes burning into the side of my face.

"I'm Nate." I looked up and saw him holding a hand out.

"Janelle." I softly said shaking his hand once before retracting my hand.

"Janelle, don't know a lot of people named Janelle." I smiled slightly as he gave me a cheeky grin.

"Where are you off to?" I bit my lip as I tried to think.

I was honestly just going to stay on the bus until the bus driver kicked me off, but now that I think about it, I don't know where I am going.

"Somewhere far from here." I slightly sighed as I turned my head to look at the scenery.

"And why is that? Sure a pretty lady like you must have somewhere in mind." I shook my head as I looked at him, his brown orbs piercing through my blue ones.

"No I don't, just want the hell out of here." A smirked grew across his face as he looked up at the bus driver.

"Stop here!" The bus came to a sudden halt causing me to slam into the seat in front of me.

"Come on Jane." Nate held out his hand to me as I stared at it in confusion.

"Well don't just sit there, come on!" He chucked as he grabbed my hand as we rushed off the bus.

"See you later Marcus." The bus driver rolled his eyes as he shut the doors and drove off.

"What the hell are you doing!" I snapped as I pulled my hand out of his grasp.

"Taking you with me." My eyes widened at his statement as I took a step back.

"Hell no! I barely know you!" Nate chuckled as he pulled his hood up.

"That's what makes it an adventure, you come Jane or what." He called as he began to walk down the sidewalk.

I cautiously looked around and jumped when I heard a gun shot. I quickly ran to catch up with Nate who chuckled and wrapped an arm around my shoulders.

"Don't worry Janey, we won't be staying here long." I cocked an eyebrow at his comment. "What's that suppose to mean?"

"I mean we are staying the night here, than tomorrow we take off on our adventure." We strolled up to an old looking apartment building.

My parents have always kept me away from the rougher parts of town, so seeing all this was shocking.

"Never seen an apartment before?" I shook my head as I tried behind him as we climbed two flights of stairs.

Nate rummaged through his pockets until he pulled out a small golden key. A click was heard and he opened the door, he motioned for me to come in. I slowly walked in looking around. Vintage looking wallpaper with flowers covered all the walls, a brown couch with some rips on it sat in the middle of the room. An old fashioned cube TV was sitting on a stool, tinfoil wires stood up at the top.

"You live here?" Nate chuckled nodded as he walked into the small kitchen.

"Home sweet home."
