Chapter 1

"How it Began"

         It was a clear night with the full moon shining in the sky with very little cloud cover. For Kaname Takanashi, it was one of the toughest nights he ever experienced. He was holding for dear life on a cliff wall with both hands on to the jagged edges and crevices of the rocks. His clothes was battered and bloodied from his own injuries. He managed to look around trying to find an easy path to climb to level ground. Using the moon light, he found certain areas that he can use, but as soon as he tried to move his right leg, the sharp sensation of pain took him.

"Ughh."

He looked down, seeing the eight inch army knife sticking out of his leg, then he looked at the base of the cliff. Where the sea met the cliff there was a body of a woman wedged between the rocks. She was clearly dead, with her body deformed, torn up and even broken as if she fell off the cliff.

"Damn it."

He looked up quickly at his left hand, at the arm band which displayed the number one on it. He closed his eyes tightly and grit his teeth in frustration and then screamed out, "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!!"

5 Hours Earlier

"Nii-Nii."

A young high schooler was calling out to her older brother who, apparently, was trying to ignore her by faking sleep. That girl had auburn coloured hair tied in a pony-tail, wearing a pink hoody jacket, with a short blue skirt and black knee socks. She was cute in her own right with light brown eyes to match her hair colour and a smile to make your heart melt. She was Hiyori Takanashi, age sixteen and her older brother was Kaname Takanashi. He had the same colour hair and eyes with a slender face and with his good looks, he can have any girl he wants. Surprisingly he don't. He wore a black jacket over his white hoody sweater and blue jeans. He had a piercing on his left ear and always had an Emo-Goth look. At the age of twenty, he is a free-lance worker, meaning he does any job for any amount of money.

"Nii-Nii, Nii-Nii."

Hiyori kept on pestering her older brother to look at her. Kaname opened his eyes and looked around at the other passengers. The passengers were mostly Japanese and some being foreigners. Some were sitting in their seats already while others were still putting their hand luggage in the compartments above their heads. It was clear enough that the siblings were on a plane.

"Nii-Nii."

He turned to his sister who has been calling out to him for a while and the first thing he saw was that the girl was pouting in frustration.

"What do you want Hiyori?"

From the moment he spoke to her, her pout changed to an ever excited smile which got him on his nerves, so he turned away.

"Nii-Nii, how long do you plan on ignoring me?"

"For the whole trip I guess."

"Nii-Nii you idiot."

They stayed quiet for a few minutes until....

"Nii-Nii, look, I am wearing it."

Kaname glanced to his right and noticed the gold medal she was wearing. That gold medal was the symbol of the victory earned in the qualifiers to the junior nationals in tennis. The tournament was held in Okinawa and both of them was heading home to Tokyo.

"I see, it looks better up close Hiyori."

She smiled even more on hearing what her brother said. Not long after, the plane took off on its way to Tokyo with over two hundred passengers onboard.
