Chapter 13

There's a knock on my door so I yell, "It's open!"

The door opens and soon Casey takes a seat beside me on the couch. He smiles warmly at me and then says, "Sorry I'm late; I got stuck in traffic. People forget how to drive once the snow flies."

I nod in agreement and then he says, "Aren't your parents staying with you right now?"

I chuckle and say, "They decided to stay with a family friend instead so as not to be an inconvenience. Little does my Mom know that I would've loved having someone else cook for me."

Casey has a good laugh at that one and then we continue to talk about various topics. After several minutes Casey says, "So, do you have a boyfriend?"

I smile and when I do I see Casey's face sink. Thinking I must be imagining it I clear my throat and say, "I do. We met our junior year of high school and started dating senior year. After we graduated we decided to take a gap year and travel together. When we visited Victoria he fell in love with the city so he's in medical school there. We're long distance but we make it work by skyping every Wednesday."

Casey nods but I can tell that he's still upset at the fact that I have a boyfriend. He soon notices me staring at him so he says, "You know, it's Wednesday. I can go into your bedroom and give you some privacy if you'd like."

I agree and thank him. Once he's in my room I pick up my laptop and open Skype. Parker, my boyfriend, soon answers and we launch into what ends up being an hour long conversation. By the end he's looking pretty exhausted since he worked a night shift at the hospital so we say our goodbyes and end the call. I invite Casey back out and we continue to chat about various topics.

So I've been super busy with school, work, dance, and driver training that even my new system for updating hasn't allowed me enough time but I go on Christmas break in a week so it won't be nearly as long to my next update.
