"hey what was that about"Zayn asked Marquis as he followed him to his room. "You told her that Elaina was adopted?!?!?!" Marquis yelled at his brother. "I didn't think that would be a problem" Zayn defended. "You know how Sara is when other girls are around u so why would you do that!!" "Look sorry okay I didn't think she would throw it in her face like that"Marquis sighed as he sat on his bed. "It's fine,sorry for yelling at ya" "It's all good now go cheer up Elaina or this whole birthday surprise will go to waste" Zayn told Marquis as he nudged him in the arm. "Yea your right I almost forgot about it" "Zayn??"said Marquis "What is it Marquis?" "Can you go distract her while I get dressed and finish setting up?" "Sure why not I have to give her her gift anyways" "Thanks bro" "Don't mention it"and with that he headed to Elainas' room. He knocked lightly on her door. "Who is it??" "Zayn"for a moment not a sound could be heard, not even her breathing. He was about to knock again when her door swung open. "Wassup Zenon"he stared at her dumbfounded for a moment. "I hated that nickname when I was a kid and I still hate it now"he said, then paused. "Hey who told u my old nickname anyways?"he asked her. "I have my sources"she said smiling. "Does this source have a name" "Sorry it's COS"he just stood there blinking at her for what felt like years but had only been minutes. "What" She couldn't help but laugh at his confused face,"it means, code of silence Z" "Why the nicknames?" "I always give my friends nicknames"she shrugged. "So I'm your friend?" "Yea, unless u don't want to be" "I do it just i didn't think that you would be so easily forgiving after the whole Sara accident"she smiled nervously and scratched the back of her head. "So much for making a good impression huh" "If you could have one thing for your birthday what would you want"Elaina sat on her bed deep in thought thinking about his question. She was so deep in thought that she didnt notice that he had placed a necklace around her neck, she jumped when she felt the cold metal go around her neck. "What is this" "This is one of your many gifts, happy birthday Elaina" She stared down at her new necklace. It was a simple diamond necklace but she loved it anyway. "Thank u so much" elaina said as she hugged him tightly. "im glad u like it and as much as i like hugs, i cant breath" She gasped and pulled away from him, "My bad" "It's okay you were just excited but get dressed" "Why?" "Do you wanna keep your pajamas on for your special day" "Alright alright get out" Zane put his hand over his heart pretending to be hurt. "Why must u be so harsh" "Zane, I can't get dressed with u in the room"laina said laughing. "Alright alright I'm leaving" Once she made sure that her bedroom door was locked she hooked her phone up to her speakers and put on her birthday outfit, which was just a pink knee-length dress with black lace over it, the necklace Zane gave her with the matching bracelet, and black high tops. After she was dressed she ironed out her hair, that alone took half an hour but she didn't care at the moment. Once she was done she looked at herself in the mirror. "Good enough" she did one last mirror check before she walked out of her room.

Once she made it downstairs Marquis looked at her. "Wow Laina, u actually put on the dress" "Don't sound so surprised" "Are u seriously gonna wear high tops with a dress??" "Yea, what else was I supposed to wear" she asked cocking her head to the side " ohh idk high heels maybe, or even sandals, pumps u know lots of options" "And the option I chose was high tops plus these are my favorite shoes" "Okay it is your birthday but for mine u can't wear high tops or any other tennis shoes" "I'm okay with that, ur birthday isn't till next year anyway"
