HUNTERS POV

It's September 9th. My birthday. I was supposed to spend it with Jess. I cried at the thought of the sentence. I guess I'll just go to lunch.. alone. "Hello. How many?" The waiter asked. "Just me." I replied. "Okay. Right this way." She said. She took me to a little table in the center of the room. I expected to be taken to like a bar seat, but no. She took me to a little couples table. Great. This was just what I needed. It's been less than 24 hours since she left. "Hi, my name is Mary. I'll be your server today. What can I get you to drink?" The kind lady asked. "I'll have a Coke." I told her. "Coming right up." After she left, I looked around for a while. Until I came across a couple in the corner booth. I sat there and stared at them, thinking, "This is what today would have been like if Jess were here." They looked so happy. Giggling and shoving food in each others mouth. Turn away, Hunter. I told myself. "Here's your Coke." "Thanks." I took a sip of my Coke as I spotted a young girl. She looked about my age. I decided to say hi. "Hi, um.. sorry. I didn't mean to sound like a creep. I'll just leave." I said with a clear look of embarrassment. "No. No. It's okay. Did you want something?" She asked. Man, she looked very much like Jess. Maybe that's why I spotted her. Oh no. What do I say? "Uh, nothing. I was just leaving. I passed you and just said hi. I don't know why. Sorry for bugging you." I said, leaving. Come on Hunter. You could've gotten her. I looked back to see if she was looking at me. She wasn't. She was smooching some guy. Ugh! How could I not have known! A beautiful girl like her couldn't have been single. Jess.. she probably has a boyfriend too.. she was gorgeous. How could a guy not want her? Maybe I wouldn't have noticed how many couples there are if she hadn't left.. Oh my. I even left without eating! Great! "Hey!" I heard a voice call from behind. I jumped around and the smile on her face died. "Sorry. I thought you were my boyfriend." She said awkwardly. "Oh, it's okay." I said with a shear sign of sadness.
