A/N pretty much what I was going for in terms of phoebe
The woman was fairly small and her features were pinched giving her a malnourished look. Her auburn hair fell almost to her waist and it swished as she moved. She wore a silken all in one suit that must have been incredibly comfortable. Alexander would have loved something that soft right about now.
"What have you done to the poor boy, he's dead on his feet," she tutted giving Fai a disproving look. Alexander was much more comfortable knowing the motherly nature of this woman despite the fact he knew for certain that she was a witch.
"He was like that when I found him mistress and he doesn't talk much either so I'm not exactly sure what his circumstances are."
"How many times do I have to tell you to call me Phoebe?"
"At least a hundred more," Fai said with an impish grin that made Phoebe smile too.
"Fine than at least make yourself useful and go get him a bite to eat." Fai obeyed and sped of out of the room. Now that the conversation wasn't distracting him Alexander cast an eye over the room. It was huge, the size of the meeting hall back at the village and it was far more lavish than even his mansion. However things were far more homely here with the smell of baking and fresh linen filling the air rather than the acrid smell of cleaning products his house had smelled of.
"So dear what got you here?" She asked suddenly a lot more kindly. Alexander weighed up her words deciding how to answer, he felt the truth would probably serve him well at this point.
"I was brought up in a rich castor family. They were always fairly cruel to me and once I realised the rest of the castors of my village were the same I decided to leave."
"Very good, well you can stay here for the moment because there is something peculiar about you. I like oddities you see and I collect them somewhat. Not in a sinister way, it's just most peculiar creatures in this world aren't treated well as you've experienced. So I try to save them from the hardships." It seemed fair enough.
Fai arrived back with the food and Alexander felt giddy at the mere sight of it. "I-It hasn't got any meat in it, has it?" He asked tentatively.
"No we don't eat meat here," she answered approvingly. Alexander then took the plate of various fruits and vegetables as well as a lump of cheese. He ate as slowly as possible so as to not seem rude.
"So what's your name," Phoebe asked. This was not as easy a question as you might have thought. Alexander had never really liked his birth name as it was given to him by his father not his mother. At this whole new stage in his life, using the old name just didn't seem appropriate.
"Alec," he decided. It was close enough to his old name to not get confused but it had more of ring to it.
"Lying but not with malice," Fai concluded.
"How did you?"
"Perks of my kind, we can find all truths among falsehoods."
"Okay,"Alec said feeling tired and passive. The very air was beginning to feel comfortable, it was so warm and soft. His eyes were getting droopy and suddenly his legs gave way. He went crashing to the floor but somehow he didn't care. All he wanted now was sleep, to get away from exhaustion.
