The Reaction

The TV was on, airing some Korean dramas that Subin's mother likes to watch at night. His mother was in the kitchen preparing for dinner. He was on the living room to enjoy sometime with Jaws, his new pet. He gave it some milk before and some cat's food that he bought from nearby pet store. They were going well with each other, despite Jaws being a stray cat.

Jaws had been behave very nicely and not troubling Subin at all. His mother was also fond of the cat and didn't complain about bringing new pet home. Though his mother asked where he got the cat from, he only told her that he got it from someone who gave it to him. His mother didn't ask more and just nodded.

The sound of footsteps from the front door made Jaws jerked up a bit from Subin's lap. "I'm home!" It was Subin's dad who just got back from work.

"Welcome home dad." Subin said to his dad.

His dad loosened up his tie and threw his suitcase to the floor and plopped himself down to the couch. "Aigoo-ya! What a long day." He said as he rested his eyes and his body to the couch. "How's your school today, darling?" Yeah his dad also called him darling.

"Fine, nothing special. The usual." He replied to his dad's question while caressing Jaws whose a bit tense at the sudden presence of another human being in the house. "It's appa Jaws, my appa." Subin whispered to his grey cat lovingly.

His dad took a peak who's his son talking to when it came to his eyes that there's a grey cat on his lap. "Oh. So, you got yourself a pet?" His dad asked while trying to get a good look at the cat.

"Yeah." Subin tried to change Jaws's position so his dad could see it clearly. His dad was quick that he took Jaws to his hand and hold it like baby. Subin could say that his dad was fond of the cat. He smiled looking at his dad playing with Jaws like he's having a new baby.

"Where did you get it from? Did your mother bought it for you?" His dad asked.

"An older charming and handsome university guy gave it to him." His mother suddenly answered for him from the kitchen. Subin widened his eyes at his mother's answer. So his mother knew? Had she been there early and watched him interacting with that person?

"You know, our darling here is growing up that he learns how to catch people's attention." His dad just laughed out loud causing Jaws to jump and moved back to Subin's side. Jaws purred and hid next to Subin.

"Oh no no no! That's not what's happening mom!" Subin was furious, didn't know what to say to his parents who likes to tease him.

"That's what happened. I remembered clearly, he was like caressing our son's head and smiled widely before he left. Oh I think they exchanged numbers also, you know?" His mother was so excited as he told the story to his husband. Apparently his mother arrived when the two boys were talking to each other. Being a mother, she was spying on whose her son talking to. Until suddenly that person caressed his Subin's head, his mother went nuts. She was smiling along the way trip back home waiting for the moment to share it with his husband.

"Oh my god! Mom! Did you spy on me?! You knew actually where I got Jaws from yet you pretended like you don't know?" Subin protested to his mom, Jaws was joining him as it hissed quite loud. Subin was surprised at Jaws's action but shrugged it off. His mother just laughed while saying sorry and told him it's just a motherly instinct to spy on her son.

"Subin-ah, I know you're almost 18 now. You're almost reaching legal age and free to decide what you want to do. You are very obedient, smart, diligent and good-looking son. But remember my advice..." His father looked very serious that Subin was a bit scared and patiently waiting of what the next words be. "remember to always use protection darling." His dad said with a wink.
