Collective Remembrance
Remember, remember, we must never forget
The debt of gratitude we owe them, still yet
Their sacrifice, their valour, the horror of it all
We must not neglect our duty, our recall
Of their dreadful times, their honour, their passion
Their inexhaustible courage, born of atrocity, destruction
The madness and annihilation, suffered, witnessed
The lives, which were lost, so many were missed
But for their courage our world would have vanished
Our green and pleasant land destroyed, vanquished
Now it's our duty to remember their endeavour
Commemorate their effort for always and ever
The young lives given so bravely, so resiliently
Their strength, integrity, deployed so consistently
Against madness, wickedness, bigotry and hate
War is not inevitable, our ultimate fate
For the grief war costs, will not diminish
So we can't forget history's cruel lesson
For lives that were lost may not be reclaimed
Returned, re-lived, their deaths not disdained
Remember, remember, how could we forget
When peacetime war is with us, still yet
