Chapter 4: A Dream Or A Nightmare?

Where am I? Who am I? When is this? All I see, all I feel, nothing but darkness. I inhale deeply through my nose, taking the strangest feeling air into my lungs, feeling thick and high in its viscosity. It was like breathing in melted tar and I felt burn my lungs, my chest began pounding with fright as I began to cough and splutter it out. Taking more air into my mouth, I feel it closing off by something invisible, as if a plug entered my windpipe, preventing me from breathing.

My wavering hand clutched my strained and tight chest in pain and agony, as my eyes began watering and I could feel blood rush to the vessels in my face. My skin quickly became like burning sand in a desert, as I felt my back being covered in tiny droplets of sweat, making different paths down. I had fallen to my knees, feeling the bone connect to the hard, strong floor beneath me as I gasped and inhaled for breath.

I felt the beads of sweat fall off my forehead, feeling them fall onto the back of my hand, mixing in my pores. I fell forwards, feeling the air ripple against the skin of my cheeks, extending my arm so that my body didn’t forcefully collide with the floor, breaking my nose. But as I brought my hand and tried to connect to the floor, I felt nothing, only me toppling forwards and falling off the edge of the platform I was on, the air roughly licking my skin as it zipped past me.

The wind picked up it’s speed, pushing my head in a way that I began to feel a great strain on my neck, pain spreading through my bones. I brought my arms to my chest and entwined my fingers between each other, taking in the less thick air through my now relieved nose. I didn’t know how long I was falling, I didn’t know how far I had gone.

But before I knew it, I could feel my chest laying on a floor, arms splayed above my head and the pain no longer in my neck. I also felt my soft cheek pressed against the steel cold floor, feeling the tickle of my eyelashes on the top half of my nose. I used my hand to support me up, bringing it to my waist and laying it flat on the ground and using the strength that wasn’t taken from me, pushed off the floor.

I had managed to get to my naked feet, wiggling my toes to test the area around them and felt no constraints. I used my hand to explore the rest of my body, skin contacting skin, as I found out that I was horribly exposed. How I didn’t realise this beforehand is beyond me. My eyelids freed my eyes, letting them whiz around, taking the sights of the place around me but all I saw was pitch black darkness.

My head turned, looking for something other than the dark, but I couldn’t even see my own body, yet I knew it was there. A cold shiver ran down my spine at that thought. What else was there but was not alive and present in front of my eyes? My ears couldn’t hear anything apart from the workings of internal noise, my heart beating, my chest rising and falling as I took breath, my hands clutching my thigh in a state of nervousness, my eyes blinking.

I looked around one final time, before taking a step forward, the sole of my feet feeling warmth for a split second. As it connected to the floor, a numb sensation overtook my body, caressing and seducing each muscle into it’s tight arrest. I then felt fabric, soft smooth and silky rubbing all over me, as clothes began to lick every part of my body, the sound of leather whipping over my foot made it sting a bit as sandals were created.

I felt linen fall on my chest as a silk shirt tickled my torso, tightening round my stomach. I also felt fabric cover my lower half, it’s soft touch over the back of my thighs and calves. I staggered a bit as I felt a weight cling onto my right hip, feeling the cold metal casing kiss my hip’s shivering skin.  I took another step forward, watching colour pour out of my brown sandal, eating the darkness at an alarming rate, as if it fed on the darkness.
