I was wondering around the train to find somewhere to sit. To my surprise, everywhere else was full. I managed to walk pass a boy staring out the window by himself. I carefully slid open the door, his head jerked toward me slightly.
"Can I sit here? Everywhere else is full." I asked him, I could feel my face going slightly red.
"Of course! C'mon sit down!" His face lit up and a smile spread across his face. He patted the seat across from him. I smiled and sat down. He brushed the little strands of hair out of his eyes and pushed up his glasses.
"I'm Mark," he stuck his hand out
"I'm Sean, but everyone calls me Jack." I grabbed his hand. He shook mine and brought his hand back. We spent most of the ride telling each other about ourselves and our family. I'm surprised he didn't say anything about me being Irish. "So, what are ya?" I asked him, gnawing on a licorice wand.
"Hm? Oh, I'm a pure-blood, but I hate calling myself that. You?" He asked, pointing his pumpkins pasty at me
"Oh! I'm a muggleborn. Well, my gran says I'm a half-blood, but she's off her knickers." Mark and I started bursting out laughing and cracking jokes the rest of the ride.
When we arrived Mark and I were in awe of the giant castle overlooking land.
-time skip to the sorting ceremony-
"When I call your name, you will come up and be sorted into your houses." Professor McGonagall read out. I started feeling nervous so I grabbed Marks hand. He didn't recoil; he grabbed my hand back.
"Mark Fischbach." Professor McGonagall announced. I gave Mark a look of reassurance and we stared at each other for a minute until he got up. He sat down and my heart was racing.
"Hmmmm.... peculiar. Bravery I see in you, very intelligent yes, ambition is also apparent, and a very hard worker. Better be.. HUFFLEPUFF!" Everyone cheered as Mark got up and went to his table. He then was staring at me, I was so anxious that I started picking at my nails.
"Seàn McLoughlin." My heart started racing,
The sooner you get up there, the sooner it's over
I thought to myself. The hat was placed on my head and:
"Ah, haven't had a McLoughlin since her. I know where I can put you. HUFFLEPUFF!" The hat announced.
I could feel a great weight being lifted off my shoulders. I got up and made my way to the table where I sat next to Mark.
"Hey Jack, this is Phil, he's a third year. He was talking to me about quidditch." I looked across the table to the boy with jet black hair and striking blue eyes.
"Nice to meet you Phil. I'm Seàn but everyone calls me Jack." I stuck out my hand
"Pleasure to meet you Jack. Welcome to Hogwarts."
