“That day three and a half years ago. Before that day we were a happy family, complete; with no care in the world; we thought we would be happy forever until that day.” I look around at Tyler and Tara, Tara still has her head turned to the side whereas Tyler shakes his head at me letting me know that he’s totally and utterly confused. Shaking my head and sighing loudly I look back towards Tyler and continue. “That day we were proven wrong. We wouldn't be happy forever. We learnt a lesson that day, that no-one could be happy forever. Calamities will always fall upon you, some worse than others. And it will always happen when you least expect it. I was thirteen, Jade was eleven and Shayne was eight. We didn't have school that day, it was the half term. My mum had always spoken to us about a really sweet girl, her best friend’s daughter. My mum had always said to us that one day she would take us to meet this wonderful girl. And that happened to be the day. In the morning before she left to do some errands of hers she told us to get dresses in something nice because when she comes back she'd take us to see this 'girl'. Shayne wasn't coming he was going to my cousins house to play with some kids his own age. This girl my mum was talking about was roughly the same age as Jade and I. This girl was twelve at the time, she was exactly between Jade and I. We were exited that we were finally getting the opportunity to meet this girl properly. We had seen her here and there before, like just got a glimpse of her but we had never officially met her. My mum rang us a few hours later to tell us to get dressed, that she was just round the corner; she had told us that she'd be home in just a few minutes. Five minutes max. We got ready into nice clothes within two minutes and ran down stairs. We stood by the door waiting for hours. Jade started to panic wondering if mum had been in an accident. I held her hand and told her everything was fine. Mum must've just remembered something else she needed to do." I pause and let out a soft chuckle. "I couldn't have been more wrong." Tara now has tears streaming down her cheeks as she knows pretty much what happens next. Tyler no longer looks confused instead he looks upset. Like he too has some sort of rough idea. I think he's guessed what day I'm talking about. "It was eleven thirty seven in the morning when we first ran downstairs to wait. We had been waiting there until ten o'clock at night." Tears that I had tried my best to hold in have now escaped as I remember what comes next in the story.

"Mike you don't have to continue." Tyler says softly. Tara walks behind me and puts a hand on my shoulder.

"I don't like to leave my stories incomplete. Besides, you should know, you'll find out one day anyway." I take in a deep breath and continue. "I wrapped Jade in my arms as she started to cry. I was trying my best not to cry, to be strong for her. About ten minutes later my dad walked in, he saw us crying in the corner and ran to us asking us what was wrong. I told him everything that had happened so far. The expression on his face changed like he knew something we didn't. The only thing he said was 'oh no'. He hugged us both and tried comforting Jade. The doorbell rang and my dad went to the door with Jade and I following close behind. Officer Charles was at the door, when he saw us he took off his police hat and looked at my dad. Sorrow was written clearly in his face and he had tears in his eyes. I knew something was wrong, when he took off his hat. 'I'm so sorry'. That's what he had said. My dad started crying and I couldn't hold the tears back any longer. I started crying and hugged Jade. I held on to her tightly fearing that she might disappear too. I can't remember to clearly what happened between that but then somehow we were at river dare. Jade and I were holding hands again as we watched them pull out our mothers car. They placed the car down and opened the driver's door. All the water flooded out. Everyone was expecting to find a body there but no, there was nothing. Some of the officers searched the car but all they found was one of her arms." Tears continue to rain down my cheeks. I can no longer see anything thanks to all the water covering my eyes. I continue with the story anyway. I just want it over and done with. "They searched the river as well but they came back with nothing. I started looking around hoping I might find her or maybe some clues and I did. I found a blood trail. It looked as though someone had tried to cover it up but they didn't do a very good job. I showed the officers and they started sniffing the air. I thought it was strange but didn't say anything. In fact that was the least of my worries and so I never thought about it again until now, when you told us about werewolves. The officers were werewolves weren't they?" I wipe my eyes so that I can see Tara. She nods her head.
