"Come on you've got to try harder. For the zillienth time it does not matter if I am a girl or not just fight me already! What are you going to do if one of the rogues you have to fight are girls! huh! ask them to change sex? No! exactly, so get it out of your head that you can't fight a girl! That's only for humans, which might I add you are not!"
Tara has been training me to fight and become stronger. She's been trying to to rid me of as she likes to say 'my phobia of hitting a girl'. It's been six weeks now since Jades little escapade and we haven't gotten very far. We were going to talk to some of the other packs and rogues but Tara says I need to fully trained, both mentally and physically, and have a pack in order to do that. Right now the pack and I are both a bit of a mess. Word has spread across the town that there's a new alpha and so the acting alpha has held a pack meeting in two nights to see if i'm ready to take over pack responsibilities yet. From what i've seen of him so far he's a really kind and nice guy. I thought he would be you know, be reluctant to give up alpha position but he seemed really happy at the fact that the real alpha has appeared, or come of age. Whatever it is they say.
"I'm not scared to hit a girl! I just don't want to hurt you."
"Oh for heavens sake your not gonna hurt me!" Tara stops for a second and looks at me. I can tell she's not really looking at me, its more like looking through me. I can tell by the mischievous smirk that's appearing on her face that she's planning something. "You're too weak to be able to hurt me. You're an alpha yet i'm stronger than you."
Oh I get it, she wants to taunt me into fighting her. Fine, so be it.
"Well you asked for it! don't expect me to go easy. You want me to be a tough alpha, well here you go. You got yourself a tough alpha."
She is so in for it now. I'm going to beat that smirk right off her face. As we circle each other Tyler comes down the stairs and sits down to watch us. He knows what's about to happen because he's laughing. We've turned the basement of Tara's house into a training room. Mind you it already had everything in it, we just had to make a few adjustments. I can predict every move she's going to make. Tara lunges for me just as I move to the side. Tyler chuckles as she hits the wall instead of me. She turns around and just before she can punch me I spin behind her and trip her over. She lands on her back and looks up at me smiling.
"Finally!" Huh? I'm so confused. I was expecting her to be mad at me or frustrated but instead she smiles and says finally. This girl is mentally disturbed. I look over at Tyler at the same time he looks over at me. He shrugs his shoulders and looks back at Tara. I put my hand out to help her up all the while looking shocked. She took my hand and I pulled her up. I can feel something stir inside of me like my body is coming to life. It's confusing because rather than it feeling painful it feels... I don't know, kind of good I guess. Like when you wake up in the morning and your body's stiff, then you click your back and stretch out your body. After that you feel great. That's how I feel right now. I look towards Tara and her smile gets so big that she starts laughing. I look at Tyler and his reaction shocks me more than Tara bursting out laughing. His eyes went wide, eyebrows rose and mouth fell open.
"What?" It's annoying me that they're not saying anything. Finally, Tara composes herself and speaks up.
"Magnus Lupus Alpha excitavit" Okay, well that definitely helped because i understood every word. Whatever she said, she said it as though she was declaring something.
"Translation" Tyler obviously didn't understand either. Well at least he asked, sort of. I would've just continued to stare at her like she was mad. Tara laughs and shakes her head, then looks up again.
"The Great Alpha Wolf has awoken." She looks at both of our confused faces and continues. "It's in Latin. It's kind of the main language werewolves use. In legend it is said that werewolves originated from Rome. Now known as ancient Rome. Which is why all werewolves happen to speak Latin, no matter where they live or where they were born. It's not that they only speak Latin. No, they also speak their own languages but after they shift for the first time the language starts coming to them. Legend also has it that the language is somehow instilled in all werewolves subconscious mind but after they shift it comes forward. When you learn the ancient history of werewolves you'll find that all of it is Latin. Apparently, according to the archives as a werewolf gets older and I don't mean like 80 or 90. I mean like around 4 centuries then gradually the language they generally speak is lost and the only language they remember is Latin. Anyway back to you" she nods her head in my direction "That stirring feeling inside you was your wolf. He has awoken, which also means that you will shift very soon. Let's just hope it's after the pack meeting." Whoa! How did she know about the stirring feeling.
"How did you know about the stirring feeling? and that doesn't explain why you were laughing like a maniac and why he was staring at me like I'd grown three heads!"
"The answer to both your questions is your eyes." I would've thought she was joking but the look on her face shows that she's being dead serious.
"My eyes?" What's wrong with my eyes.
"Dude, they were yellow!" This time Tyler answered and I must say I am surprised but I don't believe him.
"Yeah sure, my eyes were yellow. Now could you tell me the truth." Okay, so now I'm getting frustrated. Why can't they just be straight forward and tell the truth like normal people. Oh, that's right, they're not normal. In fact they're the complete opposite of normal. Ugh!! I feel so angry right now, this is so unusual. I don't normally get this angry ever. I need to hit something and I would much rather it not become a someone. I turn to the wall and punch it. It calmed me down a lot. Somehow I managed to punch a hole through the wall. I didn't even punch it that hard. I turn back round and see Tyler backing up. Before I could say anything Tara started talking.
"Huh. Looks like you'll be shifting either today or tomorrow. Oh well. All your emotions are on high scale. Especially anger. And as for your eyes Tyler wasn't lying. They really were yellow. When your wolf woke up it caused you to change. Your wolf came forward and so your eyes turned yellow. You have to be really careful and keep your emotions in check. It's gonna be hard, I know. But you're an alpha and you really need to try control them or you might accidentally kill someone. And you've just proved that you are more than capable of doing that. Thank goodness the meeting is in two nights and not tonight." She stops talking and zones off. I wave my hand in front of her face a few times but it doesn't make a difference. What could she be thinking of so hard.
"Tara!" I shout her name and click my fingers in front of her face. That did it. She shakes her head and looks at me.
"Hmm"
"What thoughts are you lost in?" She still looks kind of far off.
"Oh no, nothing. Come, we should all get some sleep. Especially you, you're going to need a lot of energy for tomorrow." I was just about to ask what I have to do tomorrow that I need lots of energy but she walked away. We've all been staying here since Jades... accident. Tyler and I both told our parents that we were going away with the school. They'll never know because we're still going to school so they won't phone our parents and so long as I am talking to my dad every few days then he won't phone the school either. As for Tyler's parents, well, they don't really care. Tara was right, plus I'm really tired so after saying goodnight to Tyler and checking on Jade I went to bed.
