I took my pale gray knit cap and pulled it on my head and then put my sunglasses on to hide my red, swollen eyes.
It matched my black skinny jeans, gray sweater with a black heart appliqué on it and my gray vans. I had hoped to look cute for Declan but Mari ruined all that because of her stupid jealousy.
Declan still hadn't said anything to me but I could tell by the look on his face that he was scared, scared of losing me, but I had calmed down enough to realize that I needed to let him know I wasn't going anywhere.
I hated to admit it, but the drive was stunning. With the leaves changing for the season, we were surrounded by oranges, reds and yellows.
The trees still maintained their leaves, but the brilliant and vibrant colors that ushered in the fall/winter season made my body hum with excitement.
I had always loved this time of year, Thanksgiving and Christmas, since I was little and it brought out the best in me and I thought mankind as a whole.
I had been in my own little world and not paying attention to where we were until we started slowing down and then Declan turned into a state park and it took my breath away.
There was a good size pond, with benches all along the edge but what was stunning was the plum blossom trees; pale pink blossoms studded the trees and filled the air with their fragrance.
Declan got out, asking me to sit still while he came around to open my door. He offered me his hand and my eyes closed when we made contact.
"Come walk with me baby" he said softly. I nodded, inserting my arm inside his, as we walked in silence until we came to a solitary bench sitting off by itself.
We sat down, really close because it was starting to get chilly, but truth be told I lived for the closeness, the warmth of his body, the thrill of his voice ringing in my ear.
