OCFS - Our House

I'll light the fire
You place the flowers in the vase that you bought today
Staring at the fire for hours and hours while I listen to you
Play your love songs all night long for me, only for me

I remember when I first brought you here in our humble abode, the day after our wedding. You were fidgeting in the car, di ka mapakali. I couldn't forget how your face lit up when we stepped down the car by the driveway. The glint in your eyes said it all, then you kissed me on the cheek and thanked me and told me how much you loved it.
"I love it! Thank you, Love. Di masyadong malaki, tama lang. Madali lang linisan heheh." Was what you said to me.
And you squealed at the sight of Philip and Nini, our Chowchows, happily running around the vast yard. And you pointed at a spot where you wanted the plants would be. In the following days you made it into a home that I couldn't wait to go home to after a long day at the office. The garden was full of different plants and flowers, some herbs even. You made the most delicious meals, so delicious that I developed a 'burger' and became a marshmallow (yan ang tawag mo sakin) in no time.

Come to me now and rest your head for just five minutes,

Such a cozy room, the windows are illuminated by the
Sunshine through them, fiery gems for you, only for you

I would never forget Thirdy crying over his pet chicken that was killed by a stray cat, cute pero nakakaawa at the same time. Naalala mo nung nahuli natin si Athena umakyat ng pader natin because she so wanted to watch that concert? And si Baste at Sieg, oh dear god, partners in crime yung kambal natin na yun. Itinulak nila yung Jaguar mula sa garahe hanggang sa kabilang kanto para lang maitakas hahaha. Celestine, I might say, is the most quiet and reserved of all our kids but our baby grand piano is just her favorite canvas with her drawings and stickers. And the horror on your face when Jacob's face was covered with dog poop because Nico said it was cake. Thank you for giving me beautiful children. So many happy memories, Mahal.

Our home had been a witness to everything that had happened in our lives. Did I mention that you were the best party host? Our children's birthdays had been memorable, and you never fail to surprise me on my birthday. And now here we are, 50 years, 7 children, 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren later. Here in our big backyard where you host your parties, we celebrate with friends and loved ones who have been witnesses of our bumpy yet joyful ride to forever.
