Chapter 1

"You shouldn't of done it Dani, you shouldn't have let him!" Kayleigh yelled with anger.

"IT WAS ONLY A KISS KAYLEIGH!"

Ring ring

"Ugh not again..." I say as I  sluggishly reach my hand over to my night stand to turn off my alarm. Another day of hell. High school has always been my enemy, I only have one friend, Kayleigh, and I'm pretty sure we're only friends because we grew up together. I'm your stereotypical outcast teenage girl who dyes her hair, begs her parents to let her get piercings 24/7, and is the most anti-social person in the world.

I sit up and stretch as I reach for my phone.

New Text Message: Kayleigh
"Did you finish your English assignment???"

"Shit! I knew I forgot something!"

"Nope looks like I'm failing the semester...fun fun!!!🙃"

Throwing my phone on my bed noticing I only have about 30 minutes left I rush to my closet, I put on a cute mauve tank top with a black cardigan, some dark blue skinny jeans, and my black vans. I run over to my mirror and quickly apply my makeup and curl my un-natural red hair.

"Today might be a good d-"

"DANI HURRY UP YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE" my step mom yells.

"Nevermind..." I retorted as I grabbed my bag and ran down the stairs. My brother was waiting there for me.

"Luke are you actually going to give me a ride today or are you going to throw another fit and make me walk."

"Hmm maybe you can just walk." He says with a smirk on his face as he slams the front door shut.

See Luke isn't my actual brother, he's anything but, he's my step brother, and just like his mom he is a bitch. Lukes mom Michelle met my dad about 2 years ago, all I can remember is my dad saying he really liked a lady and he wasn't sure what was to come. It surprised me my dad moved on that fast considering my birth mom just left him 1 year earlier but sure go ahead it's not like I could do anything anyways.

"Bye Dani try not to annoy your brother so much and maybe he'll actually give you a ride." Michelle said with that same exact smirk.

"Maybe don't raise a dick of a son." I say with a chuckle as I walk out the door.

It was a nice morning, the sun was just now grazing the sky with its beautiful hues, and the trees were swaying in the light and calm breeze. It sucks that in just a few minutes I'll be stuck in another day of junior year in my boring ass high school. I hurried up my pace when I felt like someone was near me.

"Excuse me but you dropped this a while back, I was trying to get your attention but you looked deep in thought so I wanted to just bring it to you."

The boy handed me my song book. I was immediately very embarrassed hoping he hadn't opened the book, but there was something about him that made me calm down.

"Oh...um...I'm so sorry I didn't mean to drop it...I'm really sorry..."

"No no its fine Dani it's not your fault, things just happen sometimes" he said with a generous smile as he walked to my side. "My name is Ashton by the way, I'm a Junior, I just moved here last week from L.A. it's pretty cool here."

His enthusiasm suprised me, I never met someone so happy to just be living life it was so crazy.

"Wait you know my name?" I said questioningly.

"I kinda sort of looked in your song bo-"

"Oh no..."

"No its amazing, your songs are amazing. I've never read such meaningful words, you must really be good at singing then aren't you." He said happily as a huge smile plastered his face.

"I wouldn't say that" I laughed "I just write down what ever I feel at the moment, what ever I feel you know. No one has ever looked in my song book so I guess this means we have to stay friends so I can keep tabs on you and make sure you don't tell anyone about my horrible songs."

He laughs and looks straight at me. "That sounds like a good deal, but like I said you're pretty good, you should sing for me sometime."

"Maybe I will." I reply and I shyly stare at my feet as we get near the high school. We enter the school as we continue our conversation. Ashton and I talk a little while and find out we have the same first hour, English, and I tell him about my procrastination problem.

"Hey man we're friends now don't worry I got your back, I'll see you in first" he said as he ran off to his group of friends.

"Who is that Dani?" Kayleigh says as she tries to look through the crowd of students in the hallway.

"His name is Ashton he moved here from L.A. a week ago, he's really sweet and we have the same first hour together." I say grinning from ear to ear.

"Ashton as in Ashton Irwin the Junior...please don't tell me you like him Dani..."

"Um yes Ashton Irwin...and we just met Kay, it's not like I'm going to instantly like him 2 seconds after meeting him."

"Good because he's my neighbor and I totally call dibs on him." She says with a smirk as she walks off to her group of other more popular friends, leaving me standing by my locker alone like she always does. I honestly don't even know why I still talk to her, all she does is tell my business to everyone and makes fun of me as soon as I walk away, but the thing is, she's my only "friend".

Rinnnnnng Rinnnnnng

"Well I guess we'll see what first hour holds hopefully it's not as bad as it usually is." I say to myself as I nervously walk down the crowded hallway with my head low trying to avoid any type of social interaction at any cost.

Well that is all of the first chapter I hope it's okay, it's my first story I actually plan on publishing so let's see how things go. I made this chapter 1046 words long and I'm going to try and make all the following chapters the same length :)

Next chapter you will be introduced to another character Stella a preppy girl who just so happens to be friends with Kayleigh. Will they interfere with Dani and Ashton's friendship?
