It was getting dark outside, but the fire in the cozy hufflepuff common room still lit up the area. Charlotte and Hannah were sitting on a yellow sofa by the fire as they wrote out their dreadfully boring potions essays. Across from them were Ernie and Susan, along with Megan Jones, and Justin.
"Lottie, what's the effect of a griffin claw on the potion again? I can't find it." Susan asked from the sofa beside her.
"Umm, well it adds the strength, and some colour, resulting in it turning turquoise." Lottie explained; she was the best at potions out of all her friends, but the most useless at transfiguration.
"Thanks I'd be failing potions without you Lottie." Susan laughed.
"I'm afraid I can't disagree with you on that one Susan." Ernie suggested. "But where would we all be in transfiguration without you?" He complimented
"I guess we all do have our strengths and weaknesses then don't we?" Susan noted as she continued to scribble down messily formed words onto her parchment.
Lottie smiled, and thought to herself how nice this evening was. It was the combination of most of her favourite things. Here she was, sitting in the common room, her favourite place, surrounded by all of her best friends, laughing by the warm fire, and all of that whilst eating her cauldron cake.
An evening almost as sweet as the people she had shared it with. The best people in life are the kindest.
She wrote down into the little blue notebook she carried almost everywhere with her. Lottie wasn't the best at expressing her feelings, and had soon learned that random writings and almost poems were actually a talent of hers.
"So that meeting today...? Am I the only one a little bit worried about what we could've gotten ourselves into?" Justin asked. He was often a bit too cautious with these kind of things.
"Well, I suppose we just won't be caught by Umbridge then?" The blonde girl suggested, almost in sarcasm, but with a dead serious look on her face.
"Suppose so. It'll be worth it from all the things we'll be learning from Harry if we were to get caught." Justin agreed.
Hannah laughed loudly from her place next to Lottie, kind of scaring her friend next to her. Hannah would often laugh at the randomest of moments, especially at bad inside jokes from a long time ago with her best friends.
"That would've been hilarious to hear a few years ago, Justin. Harry Potter the heir of Slytherin and the devil himself going to help people?" She suggested, recalling that time long ago when Harry had spoken parseltongue and almost killed him.
"Come on Hannah, I've moved on okay? Harry is going to help us right?" He asked.
"Of course he is. All of us want to defeat Voldemort right? We'll have to learn to defend ourselves properly to do so." Susan remarked.
Lottie sat and thought to herself. She knew Voldemort was back, but had never truly considered actually having to defend herself from the dark lord himself, or even a death eater. She supposed at that point, Cedric never considered it either. Her anger boiled just at the thought of it. She had to do something about it, to rebel, to help or at least contribute somehow to the defeat of Voldemort.
The conversation and usual banter of the Hufflepuffs continued until around 10 o'clock when they usually headed down the hallways to their dorms. All but Lottie went back to their dormitories, she; instead remained writing.
She'd never been one for revenge, or fighting back, but she had to now. She felt helpless in this world of death eaters and dementors. She turned to a new page in the back of her notebook, she'd write a plan.
The fizzing whizzbee plan ; including the many ways Charlotte Fields and company will fight back.
Step One: Research everything there is to know about Voldemort and his followers;
Find out from Harry and the D.A
Library
Learn any weakness or history
Step Two: Find some way to contribute to this, learn how to defend yourself
Join the D.A
Practise spells
Learn how to duel
Extra research
Step Three: Actually do something now. Next time Harry and company are fighting Voldemort, be there
Get closer to Harry and his friends
Work harder in the D.A
Be brave and take a risk for once in your life
When Charlotte Fields was set on doing something, she'd do anything to make it happen. Satisfied with the basic outline for her plan, she closed her book and headed down the hall quietly to her dorm. She would help, and do her best to prevent anyone from becoming the next Cedric Diggory. She sat in her bed smiling to herself, it had actually been a productive day, and so much had changed.
But the one thing that she couldn't get off her mind was a certain red-headed boy's smile.
so i'm alive... it's been a long time since I updated but I actually have ideas for this book now, and trust me it'll be worth the wait. I just want to say thank you so much for 1k reads and everything too! I just know you'll all love the character that Lottie's turning out to be, and her relationship with ron, it'll be the cutest. I'll also be getting deeper into her abilities as a part veela, and how that changes everything soon enough. there's some family secrets that she doesn't know yet, and trust me, it's a game changer.
also apologies for the fact that ron isn't in this chapter but it wasn't about him so i didn't want to force it.
