"Jalex is like a unicorn. You know it's there but you're never gonna see it." -Jack Barakat
Chapter One: I'm Sorry, Did You Say Vegan Ham?
I jogged quietly down the trail. I had just moved to Baltimore for college with my best friend. Druid Hill Park was my favorite. I often walked down here for piece and quiet. It was also a great excuse to listen to my favorite music alone. My love of punk rock cannot be denied.
I was just coming onto my favorite part of the trail where you were surrounded by trees completely. You couldn't see the road anymore, just the nature around you. It felt like you were in a different world. As I came to this part of the trail, one of my favorite songs came on. Remembering Sunday by All Time Low.
He woke from dreaming and put on his shoes
Started making his way past two, in the morning
He hasn't been sober for days
I followed the trail down a sharp curve, almost loosing my footing on some loose rocks that had strayed onto the path.
Now this plays seems familiar to him
She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin
She led him upstairs, she led him up stairs
Left him dying to get in
I hummed along to the song as I jogged, even though my breathing was already taking a toll. I looked up at the sky that was covered in clouds, hoping it wasn't going to rain soon. I had another fifteen minutes to kill.
She's been running through my dreams
And it's driving me crazy it seems
I'm gonna ask her to marry me
I finally made my way out of the park, deciding to stop early today. I felt a rain drop land on my arm. It already starting to rain, and I had a ten minute walk home.
Waking the neighbors
Unfamiliar faces, he pleads though he tries
But he's only denied
Now he's dying to get inside
I wrapped my thin cotton jacket around my arms, trying to conserve heat. Although it had been sunny only moments before, the rain ad picked up and the once nice breeze now made me shiver from the cold.
The neighbors said she moved away
Funny how it rained all day
I didn't think much of it then but it's starting to all make sense
I was looking down at my shoes, trying to shield my face from the harsh rain and wind when I ran into someone.
"Oh I'm sorry!" I said apologizing, finally looking up.
"That's fine, which direction are you walking in?" The guy asked.
I pointed stupidly in the direction of my apartment and the guy nodded.
"I'm walking the same way." He said smiling.
I instantly smiled back.
Oh I can see now
That all of these clouds are following me-
I suddenly looked up and sucked in a breath.
