It was 12 in the afternoon when I got up. I had to work tonight so I usually slept until about 8 at night. I don't know why in the hell I was up. I got up and opened the door to see Cheecha on the floor sleep. I kicked passed her arms and went into the kitchen to fix myself of glass of orange juice. After I fix myself a glass of orange, I take a breakfast burrito out the freezer and put in the microwave then sat at the table. Suddenly there was a knock at the door, so I rose up and opened it.
"Hi. Uh, did I come at a bad time?" Wynter asked timidly, fixing her glasses on her face..
"No. You good. I'm just wakin' up. I usually sleep all day, but I don't know why I'm up. Come on in." I said, moving out the way so she could come in.
Wynter comes in and sits at the kitchen table. I closed the door and locked it then sit in front of her.
"You still shook from last night??" I asked, examining the way she looked.
"Yeah, a little, but I'll be okay. Things are so different here. Back in Tennessee, I really didn't have to go through that ya know??"
"You from Tennessee?? What brings you up here in NYC?"
"Family issues. Can we not talk about that right now? It makes me emotional."
"That's fine. I catch your drift." I chuckled.
The microwave beeped and I took out my burrito and started to eat then I noticed Wynter watching me.
"Do you want one?" I asked
"I couldn't."
"Girl, the freezer is full of'em. I'll get you one" I insisted.
I got up and got a burrito out the freezer and put one in the microwave.
"Thank you." She said with a smile.
"Don't mention it mama. What you got goin' on today?"
"Nothing. Still getting my place in order. And yourself?"
"Same until around 10 tonight, I gotta work."
"Oh, where do you work??"
"Club Tip Top. I'm a burlesque dancer. Most of the people at the club dress like they're from the 1930s or whatever. You don't have to do though. I work from 10 until 6am....hm, you don't look like you get out much. You wanna come??" I asked, getting her burrito out the microwave and handing it to her.
"Social events aren't really my thing. I rather stay home and read."
I started laughing and she began to look confused.
"You're coming with me tonight whether you like it or not. You'll have a blast. You need to live a little. Life is too short to be in the house reading a damn book."
She giggled and all I could do was smile at her. She was adorable.
"Well okay!" She said happily.
"Mmmm. Damn how I get on the floor." Cheecha moaned, getting up off the floor.
"I told your ass to stop smoking that shit. One of these time it's gon have your ass locked up in a mental institution." I laughed
Cheecha got up finally and rubbed her forehead. Her long black hair was messy and red lip stick was all over and around her mouth like a clown.
"You look a hot mess. You need to go in the room and fix yourself up because you scaring our guess." I joked, watching her mope to the kitchen.
"Mm, who is she?? Good morning btw" Cheecha said, sitting at the table with us.
"I'm Wynter. I just moved in the apartment that's a door down from you."
"Wynter like the season?? That's a dope name."
"Yeah, but I spell it with a Y."
"Dope." Cheecha said before her head fell on the table.
This girl had fell asleep again. That weed had her burnt out I guess.
Wynter and I starter laughing as Cheecha slept at the kitchen table.
"Well Wynter, I'ma take a shower. You can stay here as long as you like. Be ready by 10 or I'll be over at your apartment to drag your ass out." I laughed, getting up from the table.
"I'll go. I got some things to do. I'll see you at time most definitely." She replied before walking out the door.
