Peachy's prospective
I woke with a start and looked around. I tried to stand up then remembered the snake as a shrilling pain shot through my leg. "B-Brookey," I said shakily. Brookey stood up and came to me. "Yes?"she asked. I tried to stand again but Brookey pushed me back down. "I can't get up," I said hoarsely. Brookey pulled something from the bag and set it next to me. It was a walking stick. Thank Lexy for that... I thought silently.
We ate the remains of the snake from last night. "This is good!" I exclaimed. Brookey ate quickly then stood up. "We should get going," she suggested. I nodded a stood using the walking stick. And we started on our way.
We have been walking a while... Ugh my leg, ahh umm I'm lagging behind?! Hmm I need to keep up! Wait... is that the sound of water...?
Brookey snapped me out of my thoughts, "we have to cross the river." I looked up there was a river with a few stepping stones... " We have to cross using... those?" I asked pointing to the stones. Brookey's eyes followed my gaze. "Yup," she replied. I sighed. I was never going to make it! "Brookey. I. Have. A. Hurt. Leg!" I said slowly. Brookey looked at my injury. "I know," she said sarcastically " you. Will. Live!" I rolled my eyes.
I stared at the water dazed. I gulped. "You first," I insisted. Brookey shrugged and leaped, one by one, to each stepping stone. Soon she was on the other side of the river. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I stepped across the stones. I smiled I was almost there. I got this! This is so simple- I stumbled and before I caught myself, I slipped into the icy water. My leg stung with pain. I panicked. I tried to swim, flapping my arms desperately. I gasped for breath, fear taking hold. "Peac-!" I thought I heard Brookey scream. But was cut off by something plunging into the water. It was to blurry to see. Red water clogged my vision, then blackness.
I woke. Dry land. Dry land! I lived. Brookey?! Is that you? I screamed in my head. I couldn't move. Couldn't talk. Pain swelled at my leg. I saw Brookey tending to me again. My vision blurred. No! Wait! I need to wake! Then, again, blackness, but not only that. Fear. Fear for my life. Fear for Brookey and the other girls.
