BEFORE 83 DAYS

Summer holiday was nearly over. Alaska had ignored the text at first, flashbacks of her devilish plans recording through her mind. Jessica Parker tried her best to separate the both. She'd give one of her best flirty looks as she eye contacted Cameron or even kiss him on the cheek when she'd invite herself to sit next to them in lunch.

Cameron would clench his jaw angrily and whisper something to her, something Alaska couldn't quite hear. By the look of Jessica's face, Alaska would figure out it wasn't something nice.

And Cameron even cheated on her with Jessica. Cameron had explained he was very drunk, too drunk to see, too drunk to recogise her soft lips and her memorisizing eyes, and that damn girl stole the opportunity and kissed the living hell out of him.

I'm sorry, baby doll, she felt his honesty, sincerity and love in his tone. How could she possibly trust him again? How could she love him like she first did? How could she kiss him and forget about his lips pressed against another ? How? How can she lay her head on his chest and forget about his drunk actions.

He screwed her up.

Alaska didn't want this--- she didn't want to stay depressed over someone. She wanted to feel as happy as she was with him. Little did she know wishes aren't always meant to happen.

As Alaska was deep in her own thoughts, she heard a beep indicating she had a new message.

Please, Alaska. It's very important

Alaska sighed, rubbing her hands nervously. She realised she had been ignoring her message for three whole days.  What did she went? Was it about Cameron? Is he okay? Did something happen to him? Did his father kick him out? Did he get kidnapped? Hundreds of questions collided her mind and she was now lost in her own thoughts. God, please let him be okay.

OK. When and where?

Within a few minutes, Jessica replied with the time and place they were going to meet at.

Later that day, Alaska had a quick shower and wore a cherry-red summer dress that revealed an exquisite figure. Her white sandals had a unique look, with soles made of rope. For the first time in two weeks, the feeling of lightness continued during her day and, if anything, amplified.

She then started at the locket, the shiny gold heart dangled on the delicate chain. The engraving on the heart was of flowers and leaves intertwined on a vine almost camouflaging the initial C♡A. It was a gift he decided to get on her birthday. She had laughed at his attempt in being romantic, then she had leaned in to give a quick yet sweet kiss on his lips. Her favourite kind.

The locket was her good luck charm. She'd hold it onto her chest whenever she felt upset by an action made by her mother or one of her classmates. Alaska wasn't the type to take a punch, she just didn't like the uncessary drama and the lack of knowledge in some of her classmates.

Alaska missed the nights when she would spend hours talking to him; memorising the sound of his voice. She missed his sweet talk, his sweet lips, his sweet smile. Heck, she even missed his teasing. No, stop thinking about him, her conscience snapped.

Alaska was startled as she heard shouting and screaming and heavy footfalls on the steps.

"I said get out! I'm done fucking you. Out. Now." Her mother's sharp tone echoed, sending a deep shiver down her spine. She froze, biting her lips nervously.

"Who would even want to be with a mental person like you? You're just a slut in this town. You weren't even that good, munchkin'. Are you going to call the police on me, go ahead! Probably explains why no man  you fucked  saw you as a wife material anyway."

As the anonymous person spat facts, she heard her mother screaming again and again. She heard insults and shattering glasses, followed by the sound of a slamming door. Alaska was almost terrified, she was used to her mother's usual statement but the men her mother brought home never bothered to reply; instead, they shut the door calmy.

Well, today hell will break because her mother is never this angry---- shattering glasses is just another level.
