Shadow x Reader

You decided to head to a bar a few blocks away from your house since you weren't in the happiest of moods. You walked down the sidewalk with your hands stuffed in the pockets of your (F/C) coat, the cool night air hitting you with every step you made. Finally you found yourself standing in front of one of the best bars in town, Club Rouge. It wasn't one of the...'cleanest' establishments but it was very well known, underground at least.

You took a step inside and took off your coat as you were greeted by the warm, alcohol scented air. You noticed the bar was almost completely empty, probably because it was so late at night. You walked over to the counter and took a seat on one of the bar stools. Sitting beside you was a black and red hedgehog with red eyes. His eyes were half open and he was holding his half empty bottle of beer, a glare plastered on his face. You decided not to speak to him seeing he wasn't in the mood and waited for the waitress to walk over. It was the owner of the bar, Rouge the Bat. "Hiya hon, what can I get ya?" The white bat asked winking at you. "I'll have (F/D) please, hold the ice." The bat nodded at your request and went to make it. That left you alone once again with the mysterious hedgehog. The silence made you tense up and you weren't sure whether or not you should talk to him. Finally you decided to speak. "So...You come here often?" You asked glancing at the hedgehog. He kept his eyes forward making it seem like he didn't hear your question. "Uh..did you hear me-" "Leave. Me. Alone..." The hedgehog mumbled in a dark tone. His voice sent shivers down your spine, not in a good way. You bit your lip and nodded, silence falling over you.

Finally Rouge came back and placed your drink in front of you. "Enjoy." She said and looked over at hedgehog. "Shadow you don't look so good, maybe you should head home and take it easy. I can fly you there." Rouge suggested. "I don't need you to fly me anywhere, I can drive just fine." Shadow answered coldly as he looked up at the bat. From this angle you could clearly see his blood red eyes were dilated, unfocused; he must have drank a lot. "Shady I don't think that's very safe." Rouge said with a frown. The black hedgehog slammed his fist on the counter making you jump. "Don't call me that! I can hold my own just fine, worry about yourself bat." He snapped and stood up, marching out the door.

Rouge sighed shaking her head then her focus turned to you. "Hey, I know we just met but could you follow Shadow and make sure he's okay? He gets a little grumpy when he's drunk and I don't want him to hurt himself." "Uh sure." You answered nodded and gulped down the rest of your drink. You were about to hand her a few rings but she stopped you "It's on the house, just make sure he's okay." She said with a smile. You thanked her and ran out to find Shadow.

It took you a few minutes of running but you finally found him. He was walking towards a motorcycle, keys in his gloved hand. "Wait, don't get on." You said running over to him, slightly out of breath. Shadow turned to you and glared "What do you want? I told you to leave me alone." "I know but you can't drive when you're drunk, you'll hurt yourself or someone else." You said looking at him concerned. "So what? Why would anyone care about what would happen to me? You don't even know me." He said looking at you coldly. "I may not know you but I believe nobody should put themselves through self harm because of what others may have done. You may have every right to be angry, but you shouldn't risk your own life over it. I've been having some pretty bad days too and I know I shouldn't compare my problems to yours but please, don't get on that bike. It may seem harmless but that could change in an instant." You explained and looked him straight in the eyes. "I may be a complete stranger but I care about you."

Shadow stood there frozen in shock as he stared at you. Finally he sighed "Hmph..those are some pretty kind words coming from someone I just met..." You smiled softly at him "Well, kind is my specialty." That made him smile. "Fine, I won't drive. But how else am I going to get home?" He asked. "I could drive you." You offered him. "You can drive a motorcycle?" He rose an eyebrow. You nod with a grin and walk over to his bike, getting on. "Hop on." Shadow nodded and got behind you, handing over his keys. You smiled starting the engine, freezing when you felt his arms wrap around your waist. "U-uh.."

"Don't get all lovey dovey already, I'm only doing this so I don't fall off." He said as if reading your mind. You nod and start to drive. He gives you directions to his place and you smile as the cool night air blew against your face. After a bit of driving you feel the hedgehog rest his head against your back, a blush forming on your cheeks.
