My head feels like a thousand cymbals going off at once. I've had the weirdest dreams for the longest time. At some times, I can hear Avery talking. I don't see him, I just hear him. In fact I can't see anything. I can't open my eyes. My fingers are always ice cold, except occasionally when I feel a hand wrapped with my hand. I can only assume it is Avery's because I only feel it when I hear his voice. I just want to see him. It's been so long. I keep telling myself to wake up, but nothing is working. I was always told that if you die in your dream, you die in real life. I wonder if it's true? Well, technically I guess I shouldn't try.

I walk into Avery's house with the Christmas presents wrapped in my arms. Sarah and Linden hug, mom and Aunt Michelle hug. Finally it's time for me to see Avery. I set down the gifts, pet the dogs, who are clawing at my legs, and hug Avery. We haven't seen each other in over two years, and he's grown so much. He's almost a head taller than me now. Great! I was taller than him last time... I say "Hi" to the rest of the family, as we start getting ready for Christmas dinner. We eat and we eat, just like any other day. The adults clean away in the kitchen, while the kids head over the living room. Once the parents finish, Avery opens his presents first. I finally got him the Star Wars puzzle he's wanted, plus the RoboCopter. Sarah got the camera she's wanted, plus new lenses for it. Linden got a new drum set, and an advanced Rubik's Cube (don't ask). And I got a computer, finally, along with three Sims 4 games. Us kids go outside and play in the snow while the adults talk about who knows what. We are in this huge snowball fight, Avery and me against Linden and Sarah, and we are winning. I swear I start going crazy. I start to hear this high pitch ringing in my ears but then I see these shadows. No one else hears or sees what's happening. A flock if birds quickly fly out of the trees on the hill behind us. A tree comes hurdling down the hill. Linden and Sarah are able to get out of the way, I easily can, too, but Avery won't make it. I run as fast as I can to him, and, while almost tripping, shove Avery out of the way. All I hear are screams, then I see pitch black.

Something's different. I've been seeing shapes in my eyelids since I've been asleep, but now I see pink. Pink. Of all colors. Worst color ever. I can't think clearly. My mind is racing, my heart is going 100 miles an hour, and I hear so much commotion going on. I feel a hand grab mine but slips away quickly. My mind is officially blank and I can't think of anything.
