"OKAY, SO WHAT YOU'RE TELLING ME IS THAT YOU turn into a werewolf once a month and in order to make it bearable, Sirius turns into a dog, Peter turns into a rat and James turns into Bambi?" Aquila asked, her head in Remus' lap as she and the Marauders sat under a tree in front of the school.
While Remus simply nodded his head, James asked (looking genuinely confused), "What's a Bambi?"
Aquila rolled her eyes, "Never mind."
After the news of Eliza's death, Aquila and Sirius had mended their relationship and now they were as close as they had ever been. Then, following her and Sirius' makeup, she would not allow the group to remain divided so she did what she had to do in order to get them all back on good terms (meaning, she locked Sirius and Peter in a broom closet for five hours until they hugged it out).
"You know, I'm really gonna miss this place. When I'm gone," Peter said as he leaned back against the trunk of the tree, his hands behind his head.
"For real, I can't believe you lot are leaving at the end of the year," Aquila said, smiling at all of them, "What's the big plan for the Marauders post-Hogwarts?"
At the same time, they all said their answer.
"Auror."
"Healer."
"Auror."
"Teacher."
Aquila looked up at Remus, him meeting her gaze with his bright green eyes, "I never knew you wanted to be a teacher."
He shrugged, "I want to, but it doesn't seem likely."
"Why not?" she asked.
"Because most parents wouldn't want their kids taught by a monster."
The Black girl scoffed, "Yes, you; Remus John Lupin, who folds his underwear and irons his socks. What a monster!"
The other boys burst out in laughter and Remus cracked a grin. Aquila, with a big smile on her face, added, "Well, I think you'd be amazing at the job, Professor Lupin."
Remus blushed, turning away from her gaze while Sirius gagged, "Please, keep the mushy mush to a minimum while I'm around. I still don't fully approve of this; whatever this is."
Flipping him off, Aquila scowled, "Shove off, I don't say anything when you're all over the place, snogging your skanks."
Sirius made a face at her and Aquila was about to retort with some snarky comment when her name was called out. She sat up and turned her head to the source of the sound. From where she was sitting, she could make out Evan Rosier's smirking face watching her as he leaned against the wall of the castle.
"Excuse me," she muttered as she got up and walked over to meet him. Raising an eyebrow at him, she asked, "What do you want, Rosier?"
"I see you and your blood traitor brother have made up."
"What do you want, Rosier?" Aquila demanded again, folding her arms across her chest as she stared him down with harsh gray eyes.
Looking down at the girl (he was a rough six inches taller than her), he answered, "I just want to know how my future wife is doing. Your Mudblood friend is dead after all."
Narrowing her eyes, she spat, "Don't call me your future wife. And do not talk about Eliza in that derogatory manner."
"Why?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he took one step closer to her, "Both statements are true."
She raised her hand to slap him across the face but the boy's reflexes were fast as he gripped her wrist and pulled her into him. She stumbled momentarily, the sudden pull causing her to lose her balance but straightened up as she saw him watching her smugly.
"Let me go," Aquila said, her teeth gritted and her jaw tensed. Evan, however, was having too much fun to comply. He leaned in a bit closer, so she could feel his warm breath on her face, "Now why would I?"
"Because if you don't, I'll rip your head off. That's a promise," Remus said as he stood next to Aquila, the rest of the Marauders flanking. The boys had been skeptical in letting Aquila go talk to him alone and when they saw Evan grab her, they were all up and behind her before you could blink.
"Oh look, the blood traitors and the mutts have come to save you," he taunted.
"Rosier, let the girl go before we send you to the Hospital Wing in a stretcher," Peter said, his hand already reaching for his wand.
The blonde Slytherin dropped Aquila's hand and licked his lips, giving Aquila a look, "You might want to learn to control your playthings, I'd hate for our engagement to be ruined because someone's been unfaithful."
Aquila snorted, "Yeah, look who's talking."
She turned to the Marauders and shook her head, "Come on guys, let's just go."
They had all proceeded to walk away when they were stopped by a loud crunch. The group turned back, snapping their heads around only to see Evan halfway on the ground leaning against the castle wall with his face in his hand while Sirius was shaking his hand, "That's for putting your hand on my sister."
The Black boy then made his way next to her and threw his arm around her shoulder, leading her down to the lake.
"Aquila! What would your mother say?" Evan called out, his voice heavy from his possibly broken jaw.
Aquila turned back and for once in her life, she did not care and she said just that, "Tell my mother I said she could take her betrothal offer and shove it up her ass for all I care. Whatever you think we were going to have, is done. You can go back to your playthings now."
What she didn't know was that she had lit the spark that would set so many things ablaze.
