Harriet's POV
The wonderful smell of corn soup entered throught the four corners of this house. Walking my way downstairs, I was met by a pair of blue eyes.
"Dinner's ready"
Luke warmly gestures to the dining-kitchen area.
I went straight there, and saw Victoria serving the bowls.
"Smells good, Victoria."
I complimented the soup. She gave me that smile that Luke also gave me earlier.
"By the way Miss, please just call me Vicky for short. Victoria is just too long."
She said.
"Sure. Vicky."
Sitting down, I poured my bowl some of the corn soup she served.
"How about Eric and Luk--Lucas?"
I asked her.
"They already ate, Miss. They were very exhausted today. How's your day one, Miss?"
Respectfully, she asked while sitting down in her usual chair and also had some of the soup.
"It was good. Lucas is still a fool."
I quickly giggled as I remembered the scene were the goose pecked his arse while showing me around in their pen.
"I told you you'd enjoy. But with all my respect, Miss. Is it true that the Hughes are back? And also you know, your arranged marriage with their only son."
Vicky asked. So now that news has even reached in South America.
"Yes. Yes it is true. And yeah, Im getting married to that git, I mean Blake. The Blake Cameron Hughes."
I confirmed. His name makes me shiver alot. Vicky laughed as I mentioned the 'git' part.
"As I am only a servant, I cant do anything with your parents' plan. But its all for your own good also, marrying a Hughes is a big oppurtunity. I know that Sir Blake is a total git but you know his family holds a very high name that if yours and his combine, you'll be bloody successful."
She explained while letting her soup cool off.
"Okay, now Im literally confused. Earlier you're linking me to your redneck son Lucas and now its Blake the git. What's up with this 'Victoria Shipping Game'?"
I asked her suspiciously. Is she a love expert to say those? Totally not Gucci.
"In some ways, Im just telling you that in one point in your life you need to choose from true unexpected love or the shining shimmering success for you and your family."
This woman is dead mysterious.
"I don't even love Luke! I hate him. He will never be my 'unexpected true love'."
I quoted my fingers in the air as I told those eeky words.
"That's what I also said to your mother when she was teasing me about Eric when we were in our 20's."
She warmly smiled. She and mother are friends?
"Wait. You're friends with mother?"
"Yes, Miss. We're very close then. I was your grandparents' cook, right? I was there when your mother was still a maiden. She also had that challenge in her life to choose from love and success, same as yours."
My interest in this epic conversation grew more and I quickly straightened up.
"What did she choose?"
I asked curiously.
"Success."
*****
"Faster please!"
"Faster!
"Ugh!"
No, dont even think dirty. Okay?
Luke furiously knocked on the bathroom door as I dressed myself up after having a night shower.
"Okay! Coming out!"
He was knocking for a few minutes already. I was giggling to myself as I pictured him jumping up and down in the other side of this door, stopping himself from peeing.
FYI, this house has only one bathroom so if you're about to use it and someone is in, just wait. Rather that using that old bathroom outside beside the chicken barn.
"Done!"
I chirped while getting out.
Luke bolted in and quickly pushed me out, locking the door. I chuckled at that sight.
The tone of Cher Lloyd's Oath rang in my phone, indicating that Vanessa is calling (again). Now what is her problem?
I quickly got out of the house and sat on the porch.
"What now?"
I said jokingly through the phone and heard Vanessa sighed.
"I got some good and bad news for you. What do you want to hear first?"
"I think I'll take the bad one. Save the best for last, they said."
Vanessa took a big sigh and said,
"Blake spreads in the whole town that you're his girlfriend already. You said yes to him last week. What a rumor!"
She said in irritation. In the moment I come back and LA, I'll put the shovel down that git's throat.
"And the good news?"
"But I also told everyone that you already have a two-month boyfriend and its not Blake. So they asked who, then I told them the most common cute guy's name. Luke. And he has blonde hair, blue eyes and really goodlooking."
What. The. Chanel. Oh Merlin.
"What?! Nessa, that 'twomonth boyfriend' that you just told them is exactly describing the ranch caretaker's son!"
I shrieked through the phone.
"The redneck's name is Luke? And by the looks of it I think he's really handsome. Y'know blue eyes a--"
"Shut the Hermes up, girl. Im not mad at you, Im just bloody worried what if my parents knew that?"
Worriedly, I asked her.
"Oh my gosh! I am so so sorry, girl."
Nessa said with an apologizing tone.
"What are you sorry for?"
"Your parents already know. Blake told them."
I am officially dead.
