This piece of work was done by friends of mine and I give them full credit for it. Thanks Caroline Barrnet and Nathan, this was amazing Spoken Word.

For Unto Us a Child is Born
C: Caroline    N: Nathan    T: Together

C:
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭7:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬

T: For unto us a child is born.

N:
I don't understand.
That line,
people say it all the time.
For unto us a child is born,
It Doesn't make sense.
I mean,
Think about it!
For unto us a child is born!
It doesn't add up in any way.
C:
Because this phrase makes the audacious claim
That to us he was born, to the shepherds that were never even given a name,
The preposterous proposal that the Messiah that would save us by dying a tree's frame
And this small helpless infant were one and the same.
This phrase radically changes everything.
N:

You see,
What hits me
Is the us.
The fact that,
Jesus was born
To everyone
Not just the Israelites
The Pharisees
The humble
The godly,
The wise
The believers
The pastors
The saints
But everybody.
The sinners.
The imperfect
Those who run from him
Those who are broken.
Those without hope
Who
Have No reason to get up,
To breathe,
To live! The people who've had too much
Or perhaps
The people who'll never have enough
Who've, dug holes
And jump right in
And keep digging
And keep digging
And keep digging
And can't get out
The foolish.
The arrogant.
Those That,
Refuse to believe the words of truth
The Naïve
And,
Those,
Living just to get through the day.

All of us.

I mean,
Why is it,
That God would come to all of us?
As a little bitty baby,
In a state,
Worse than us.
How could God care?
Why would God care?
Why should God care care?
Because I'm
I'm a broken sinner,
An addict,
Wanting the things the world
tells me I want and
That I need.
I'm a liar!
I've been a hypocrite
And nothing like he wants me to be.
Why would he be born
For me??
There is absolutely no reason he
Would care.
But it says
For unto US a child, a savior, a God! is born.
Showing that he cares.

So then I see that our God is loving,
Caring,
And compassionate.
He made and loves us all.
He wants us to be with him
He wants to pull us up from the holes
We've dug ourselves into
How could he not care?
He is our good shepherd.
Giving us just what we need.

So now when I hear that
For Unto Us a child
Is born,
I think just how loving and caring
Our God is
to comes for us all.

C:
How could God send a child such as this?
Um, excuse me for sounding like I'm speaking heretically,
But what in Heaven on earth and under the earth was God thinking? Because theoretically,
If thia "Christ" was sent to be the Savior of this earth,
Then that means God sent a child to do the Son of Man's work.
It makes no human sense.
For how could the red ears listening to Mary's lullaby one day hear the cries of a desperate    nation,
And how could his voice now screaming for his mother one day speak the truth that leads to        salvation,
And how could this newborn's eyes, still unfocused, see what happens at the end of his life's        path,
And yet still his feet that his father just kissed would lead him to Golgatha, to face his Heavenly        Father's wrath?
Who could fathom that this baby would one day walk on a sea fathoms deep,
And how could this child that Mary laid to rest become the one who would wake those up from        an eternal sleep,
And when one looks at this family, by what incredible stretch of imagination
Could one possibly envision him on Calvary in the cross' stretch of humiliation?
It makes no human sense.
But that's the thing about God. He isn't bound by human sense.
And His seemingly insane methods do not need our defense,
Because when we step back and look at it through His eyes, it starts to make actual, factual,    supernatural sense.
For He was laid in a bed not meant for a King,
And he was raised in a town not meant for someone who would ever be something,
He was associated with crowds not meant for a good citizen,
And he died a death on a cross not meant for the innocent.
He was buried in a tomb not meant for his eternal bed,
And when he rose he breathed a breath not meant for the dead
And now sits on a throne not meant for man,
He now sits on a throne meant for the Son of Man.

And what does this have to do with a baby?
Well, I've heard the story of Jesus all my life, and what I have come to understand
Is that this conflicting logic is exactly what God has planned
For it demonstrates that things that don't make sense can still be perfect anyway,
Like the good news brought to the shepherds of a child in the hay.
So if we're examining God's methodology, if we are attempting to take stock
Of an enigma spanning from us back to the shepherds watching their flock,
Then I suppose the real question we must ask simply is,
How could God send anything but a child such as this?

N:
Perhaps,
From now on,
whenever I think about it,
This line.
Is perfection.
It's just what we need.
A covenant
A promise.
That God is always there.
To everybody.
Every where
All the time.
No matter the circumstance.
And he chose To come down
to suffer.

For us.

C:
He chose us. To be like us, a man who would laugh and mourn,
And even before that, a baby. Not a white-horse riding conqueror paving the way with trumpet    and horn,
No, He chose to play by our rules.

T: So church, on this beautiful morn, let us celebrate.  For unto us a child in born.
