Kurapika looked around the chapel shocked. How had he gotten here? Was this strange man a wizard or something? Kurapika didnt have much time to ponder these things however, he was on the brink of passing out from hunger again. Kuroro let him go and closed his book, walking over to what looked like a fridge, pulling out some snacks. He tossed Kurapika a package of deli meat, he himself opting to eat chocolate pudding. "Dont eat too much, Your body weight needs to raise gradually" He said, sounding oddly gentle. Kurapika didnt hesitate to start eating, he heeded kuroro's warning however, only eating 3 peices of ham. He didnt want to risk over eating and vomiting.
"My family is on their way, they're eager to meet you" he said, despite the seemingly normal sentance something felt a bit odd. This man was mysterious, and somehow it felt weird that he was helping him. what was his ulterior motive? Kurapika felt stupid for being so blindly trusting, in hindsight he probably wasnt thinking clearly becuas eof the hunger and stress.
for about an hour there was silence, Kuroro sat quietly in the center of the room reading a book and kurapika rested his eyes, not truly sleeping but also not fully awake. He knew better than to allow himelf to fall asleep in an unfamiliar place.
Eventually a pink haired girl walked into the chapel. This sudden noise immediately brought Kurapika out of his trance like state. "So whats with the sudden meeting?" The woman asked looking at Kuroro, who leisurely closed his book and offered a polite smile. Kurapika sized up the girl, she was small and didnt look particularly powerful, but his instinct told him otherwise. she was definately stronger than she appeared.
"We have a new recruit, I thought we could throw a welcome party." Kuroro says with a gleeful smile, of course his words were obviously sarcasm. Machi looks around the room for this new member and her eyes immediately fall on the scrawny kid sitting in the corner, eyes looking calculating. 'This kid caught kuroro's eye? Why?' Machi wondered to herslef but she didnt question, the leaders descisions were absolute. He didnt feel particularly threatening so its not like theres any harm in it.
She walked over to his corner and sat down, deciding to be nice to the kid who looked like he'd just been through hell. "Whats your name?" She asked. Her face didnt hold much interest, Kurapika knew she probably didnt care. He decided to respond anyway, knowing that being hostile or shy would be to his own disadvantage. "Kurapika." he said curtly. "Thats a weird name, I'm Machi." She replied.
Kurapika didnt like her expressionless face, it made him a bit disconcerted. He glanced at Kuroro but he had resumed reading his novel. Kurapika and Machi sat in silence for a while until Machi once again broke it. "Wanna play cards?" She asked, pulling out a deck. Kurapika shrugged. he had nothing better to do, and it was to his advantage to be friendly. "sure." he responded.
It had been a long time since he played any card games, Him and Pairo used to play spades all the time, he quickly shook away those painful memories. He was going to avenge them, he couldnt cry over thier deaths any more.
Him and Machi played cards and engaged in small talk. She asked simple questions like his favourite color or food, never treading into heavier subjects like his past or how he ended up here. He was thankful for that.
Eventually more members started showing up, a guy with a sword walked in with a beast like man. A woman wearing a pencil skirt showed up right after them. And then in walked a small man with black hair and scarf obscuring his face and a large man with huge earlobes and stitches on his face.
They chatted with eachother casually, wondering what all the fuss was about. It was apparently rare for them to all meet like this on such short notice. Kuroro finally closed his book getting everyones attention. "We are gathered here for a few reasons, namely theres been a stark rise in children being kidnapped from the streets of ryusegai and being sold, naturally were going to stop this disgusting act, as well as steal all their profits." The group had excitement painted on their faces, their last big heist was the kurta massacre, they were both excited about getting money, as well as because they could help the children that had been just like them a few years ago.
