"Do you even realise what you've just done?!" Alpha Romulus yelled.
"Alpha, I-"
"You have just absolutely ruined any chances of peace we had with the humans!"
"Alpha-"
"Don't even open your mouth, Zac! Honestly, I had better expectations from you!"
At this moment, the door of Romulus' study opened and in came Aiden and his soon-to-be Beta, Josh. Aiden had just been informed of the incident regarding Zac and the human child, and that his father was dealing with it.
By the look of things when he entered the study, Aiden figured that his father had either not heard the correct version of things, or was.. how to put it politely.. over-reacting. Aiden sighed.
"'Sup, Dad," Aiden said with a nod to the Alpha. "Have you taken your medicines yet?" It was up to Jason to take care of these little things.
The mention of his medicines seemed to distract him. The Alpha had become a bit.. unstable after the death of his mate, so such scenes happened. Unfortunately, no one could do anything just yet, since Aiden wouldn't be of age till another six weeks and be able to take over the Alpha title.
Romulus, escorted by his Beta, Josh's father, left the room and Josh shut the door behind them.
"Zach," Aiden extended a hand towards him. "I'm Aiden, future Alpha of this pack, and this-"he motioned to Josh, who nodded-"is the future Beta, Josh."
"We apologise for these unpleasant circumstances.. and our Alpha's behavior," Josh said, casting a sideways glance at Aiden.
Zach acknowledged it with a nod. "I apologise for the trouble I've caused, too."
"Don't mention it," Aiden said. "First thing's first; your Omega. I don't know why she ran away, but it seems she has found her mate. He's the pack's to-be-Delta."
"Ah!" Zach exclaimed softly. "At least her motive is clear now: love."
"Yeah," Josh agreed. "Makes people do stupid stuff, that one."
There was a soft chuckle around the room, stopping only when Aiden raised his hand. He went and sat down at the edge of the huge mahogany desk near the widow. "I've informed her that you will be escorting her to your pack so she can receive Alpha Connor's permission to join here, but Jordan will be going with you."
Zach's expression morphed into one of confusion. "Jordan...?"
"Our Delta," Josh replied.
"Now, to the more pressing matter at hand: I have heard what happened on the hill, but I would like to hear it from you." Aiden's gaze burned into Zach. It was disturbing that even though Aiden was nearly a decade younger than Zach, his stance alone was enough to radiate power and authority, a kind Zach did not experience with his own Alpha either.
Zach retold the whole story and Aiden's face remained impassive the whole time. There were no interruptions. It was only after Zach finished that he sighed in a frustrated fashion. "And they say we are the war-mongering ones," Aiden said.
"Alpha, I apologise profusely, I-" Zach started, only to be interrupted by Josh.
"It wasn't your fault," he said. "All of us would have done the same."
Aiden, who looked like he was thinking hard about something important, looked up at Zach and said,"I assume you are tired. Max,"- he motioned to one of the people in the room-"show Zach to one of the guest rooms. The rest of you are dismissed."
Aiden mind linked Josh: Except you, bro. we have a pack to run, in case you've forgotten.
Josh bit back a groan. He was tired, and wanted to sleep but he told himself to be a Beta and suck it up.
Aiden also mind-linked Jordan to come to the office. They had things to discuss.
It was gonna be a long night.
