Note: This, like the Halloween story, does not affect the actual story. And we're going to act like Will and Nico are already together in the story.
Christmas time was a time Nico loved, yet hated.
He loved how it put everyone in the good mood. He loved the scented candles that filled rooms with a wonderful, happy smell. He loved the Christmas carols that he'd hear while passing people on the streets.
But he also hated the holiday.
He hated that he wasn't able to spend it with his sisters at home. He hated how they couldn't even sneak out of the palace and wish them Merry Christmas in person. He hated how his dad wouldn't even allow him near his home during the festive season.
But this year was different. They were at the Sun Kingdom palace. All of them were. And, best of all, Nico didn't have to worry about his father telling him to get lost.
Nico woke up Christmas Eve morning, happy as ever. It was the first time in two years he'd be sending it with the people he loved. Hazel. Bianca. Will...
Nico blushed, thinking of his golden hair lover, and quickly got ready. He took a brisk shower and put on a sweater he'd bought last year for himself. It was a black knitted sweater with little white skulls on it. Nico couldn't recall where he had bought the clothing item, but he was in love with it.
After slipping on a matching pair of pants and black shoes, he left the room for breakfast. Along the way, someone had jumped out from around the corner, scaring the crap out of him.
"Boo!" Will shouted, a grin plastered to him face. Nico glared, giving him a little shove. "Aw, come on, Nico."
Will pulled him back, hugging him from behind. He planted a kiss on his cheek and watched as the boy haired boy's face turned bright red. Nico let loose a smile, hoping that no one had seen their little display of affection.
"Let's go," Nico said, pulling Will along. "You mom said there'd be waffles today."
The two took their time, wanting to together for so long as they could. They knew there was a chance of someone seeing them; so they didn't hold hands nor did they does anything that would make them look like anything more than friends. Though that didn't stop them from being close to each other. They were walked close to each other, so close that their shoulders and hand would occasionally touch.
They entered the dinning room, taking their seats next to one another. At one end sat King Apollo, reading the morning paper as usual. On the other end was Queen Naomi, sipping on her orange juice. She set down her glass and greeted the two boys as they walked in.
"Where are the girls?" she asked afterwards.
"I don't know," Will answered, taking a few waffles. "Maybe--"
Just then Hazel came barreling in, Bianca shortly after, with Santa hats in her hand. She was already wearing one, along with their older sister. She ran over to Nico and Will first, holding of out for each of them. Then she ran out to Naomi who gladly accepted.
"Here you go, sir!" Hazel beamed, handing the last one to Apollo.
"Thank you, Hazel," he smiled, ruffling the top of her head. She giggled in delight.
"Hazel," Bianca said, grabbing her sister's, "sit down and eat."
The little girl ran over to seat. Her plate was already topped with waffles dripping in maple syrup. Her eyes brightened at the sight. Nico chuckled, watching Hazel eye her food while Bianca cut it into edible pieces. Meanwhile, everyone else dug into their own food.
