Telling Dad

"So your estimated due date is April 17, 2017. Today is November 23, 2016. So your next appointment will be December 7, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. Ok?" Shannon says getting us ready to go. "Ok. Thank you so much!" Veronica says kindly. "Ok, so your baby is small, but expect to see growth within the next couple of days." Shannon says warning the young couple. "Ok." They say kindly. "Ok I will see you in two weeks. Bye." Veronica and Chris get into the car and head to party city. "We have to plan this party soon. We will have the party on Saturday December 3, 2016." Veronica says to Chris. "Ok babe. We will have the party then. We are heading to party city now to get the stuff for the party so make a list." Chris says to Veronica in a sweet voice. "Ok." Veronica says as she starts to make the list. They pull up to part city and they get out of the car and walk in and start reading the list. They get all the things on the list and head home. Veronica walks in the door and lays all the stuff down in the spare room a.k.a. the baby's nursery. She looks around the room and puts her hand on her stomach. Chris walks in behind her and hugs her from behind. "I cant believe we are having a baby in 5 months." Veronica says quietly. "I know I am very excited." He Chris says with a smile on his face. "Yeah, me too." Veronica looks at the time and sees it is 5:30 P.M. "I need to call my dad." Veronica says as she unlocks her phone and dials her dad. As the tone dials she sits in the floor of the soon to be nursery. "Hello?" "Hey daddy. How are you doing?" "I am good, Chris and I have good news for you." "Well why dont you two come over and we will have dinner and you guys can tell me then?" "Ok daddy. We will be there about six." "Ok sweetheart, see y'all then." "Ok daddy, I love you." Veronica says hanging up the phone. "The bond between you and your dad is amazing baby. I think he will be happy you are having a baby." Chris says assuringly. "I sure do hope so."

David's POV-

As I wait for Veronica and Chris to get here I order chinese take out, Veronica's favorite. I set the table and when I lay the last fork on the table, there is a knock on the door. I open the door and see my favorite person in the whole world. "Hey daddy." Veronica says with a big smile on her face and hugs me tightly. Chis stands there with a smile on his face. I adore Chris. I feel like he is right for my daughter. He treats her right and he loves her more than anything. Chris also respects me and I love it. "Hey sweetheart. How are you?" I ask my sweet daughter as we walk into the kitchen. "I'm good daddy. So happy to see you today. I heard your voicemail saying you needed mine and Chris' help with something. What's up?" She asks me curiously. "Let's eat first and I want to know what the good news is. Then we will get into what I need help with." I say to her with a smile on my face. We all sit down at the table and begin to eat. We keep small talk like what we are doing for christmas and then Veronica got really quiet so I just changed the subject. "So sweetheart, What's the good news you have for me?" I ask her. She looks at Chris with a smile and then looks back at me. I make and assumption and stand up really fast and start crying a bit. I look at Chris. "Did you?...." He looks at me and they both laugh....."No daddy. No." Veronica says. I take a sigh of relief considering Chris and Veronica have been together for years. It would crush her if something happened between them. "Then what is the good news?" I ask with a curious look on my face. "Ok daddy. I just found out yesterday and today it was confirmed. I just hope you are happy for us and not mad." She says looking up at me. I cant help but wonder what it could be. I look between her and Chris and they both smile. "We're pregnant." They both say at the same time. When they say this I fell very mad at first but then that changes to happiness when I see how happy they are about it and I know Chris isn't going to leave my daughter cause she is pregnant. My head starts to wonder a million things and I have so many questions to ask them. So I ask one question at a time. "Oh Veronica, Chris. I am so happy for you." Veronica looks up at me with a shocked and surprised look on her face. "You are?" She says with a shocked voice. "Yes, of course I am. I am going to be a grandaddy. I am happy and not upset because I see that Chris isn't going to leave you. He is going to be right by your side the whole time, and I see how happy you are." I say to them with a smile on my face. I have so many questions to ask them, so I just start asking. "So, how far along are you?" I ask her with a curious look on my face. Veronica and Chris look at each other and Smile. "I am 4 months along." She says as my jaw drops. "4 Months?" I ask with a heavy tone. "How long have you known?" "Well, I took 6 tests yesterday and 4 said positive and one was negative. So I set up an appointment with the doctor to get checked out and they confirmed it." She said with a smile on her face. "Well, what is the gender?" They both stay quiet. "It's a boy!" I say excited. "Daddy. We know the gender but we are not telling anyone till the gender reveal party." She says in a excited tone. "When is the party?" I ask curiously. "Next Saturday. You better be there." She says in a stern voice. "I wouldn't miss it for the world. "Good. We will see you there daddy. It's getting late. We have to go. I love you daddy. I will see you soon." She says sweetly kissing my cheek and hugging me good bye. "Bye sweetheart. I will see you saturday." I say waving them away. I love that small little family. Reminds me of mine.
