There's a little light in every darkness

Chapter 2: A chance to be normal...

The sun was raised up in the sky as another day began in Equestria and as we made our way to the throne room with myself putting my hood back over my head, I noticed that the chatting ponies walking about the castle whether they were staff or new recruits, everypony would go silent...then they would stare at me. While I couldn't hear their thoughts, I knew just by looking at their eyes that they either feared me, hated me, or both. I'm sure the only reason they don't try anything is because of the princesses. I caught Luna looking at me and then looked to her sister who avoided my gaze. I could only assume they also felt the fear and hatred their subjects had for me.

Once inside the throne room, the princesses ordered everypony to leave us alone and be left undisturbed. In a manner of moments, the throne room was completely empty except for the three of us. I had tuned out their commands as I observed the glass windows around the room. There were drawings of the main six and the villains that threaten Equestia and its citizens including...the tyrants King Sombra and Nightmare Moon.

I must have been staring too long as a wing tapped my shoulder and looked to my right side, seeing Princess Luna looking at me strangely. As if she was worried because she knew somehow or wanted to ask what was wrong but was choosing not to.

"I see you have taken an interest in these depictions of the achievements Twilight Sparkle and her friends have accomplished." Luna said. I wasn't sure where she was but she was probably just giving us space for some reason.

"Yes, I find it very impressive all that they have managed to accomplish. However, I often wonder what happens after Twilight and the others defeat them?"

"What do you mean, Solar?"

"What I mean is I wonder whether the villains are truly gone for good. From Nightmare Moon to Discord to all the others that threatened Equestria...are they really destroyed? Are they truly no longer a threat?"

"There will always be threats to Equestria and our subjects Solar but, good will always triumph over evil."

I sighed and looked directly into her eyes, "Princess...do you believe that even the darkest hearted individuals could ever be good?"

"We cannot say for sure because everypony reacts in different ways. While some may have enough remorse and want to change...many more who may threaten this land will remain evil to their core and be unwilling to change."

"Luna, what are you two talking about?" The princess of the sun came walking towards us. Apparently she wasn't within earshot of our conversation.

"Just having some small talk dear sister. Solar was only talking about how he was impressed with the elements of harmony and what they have achieved together. Isn't that right, Solar Eclipse?"

"Yes, that's correct your highness." I nodded and agreed ehhh her sister while Princess Celestia looked at me briefly, probably for signs that I was lying.

"Very well, if you two are finished with your conversation then I believe Solar was going to explain himself on his actions the past decade around Equestria." Celestia walked away with her sister following close behind to sit at their throne. I made my way to them, wondering if they would believe me or what I could tell them about me that wouldn't cause to believe I'm a danger to them and their citizens.

"Would you like the long version or the short version, your highnesses?"

"Whichever you feel will comfortable telling us. So long as its sufficient enough to excuse your actions then the version doesn't concern us." Luna replied as she gave a reassuring smile. I felt she may know more about me than I thought but, I would focus on that another time. Right now I thought my explanation through. I could hide everything I was but that would only raise suspicion about me once they found out. So in the end, I decided to say some things about me while keeping the rest for later on.
