I was bathed in warm light. My mother was watching my brothers and sisters playing in the shade. I always wondered why there were so many of us. All the other dogs had about 5 or 6 pups, but my family seemed to be much bigger. Something cold and wet touches my side. "C'mon sis, let's go play, you've been sleeping for ages!" I yawn, stretching as I awaken. "What game are we playing?" I ask, bouncing with excitement. "Chasing!" One of my brothers bark. Chasing is the best game EVER!!!!! "Can I be it?" I bark. All the other pups bounce. I was always speedy, the loved me chasing them."I will give you ten seconds! 1.......2........3.......4........5.............6..........7.........8........9....TEN!! Hear I come!!"
The sky was a navy blue. The farmers wife had just given us our dinner. I was so hungry, I could've eaten a horse! The pups were getting bigger and older each day, I could see the strain on mothers face. But she cared for us, as she had since the day we were born. My amber eyes shone in the moonlight."Who wants to play straw ball??" None of my siblings seemed interested. Strange, we always play straw ball... We didn't look the same. Some looked like me, Black with brown patches. Other were black with bits of white. It made me wonder.... then mother sighed. "My darling pups, may you come and listen please??" We scarper to mother. She looks sad. "My pups, you are old enough to know now. There's something that I need to tell you...."
