“After you.”
Tray took a step back after he unlocked the door to the loft he shared with Dominic. I slipped past him inside, and I walked down the hallway with Tray right behind me. We emerged into the living room, where Dominic was with the other people in the gang who appeared to be involved with the job.
Dominic was standing in the middle of the living room with his arms crossed over his chest and his mouth twisted in a frown. He was pacing across the carpet, and when Tray and I entered the room, his head snapped up.
“Hey guys,” I greeted, smiling at the people who’d become like my extended family.
“Good,” Dominic said, somewhat tiredly, “You’re here, so we can get started.” I nodded and understood that he was all business, and I looked around for a seat.
“Alice,” Elena, the only other girl in the room, patted the small stretch of sofa next to her, “You can sit here.” I gave her a thankful look and hurried across the living room, where I squeezed in between Elena and the armrest of the chair.
“How you been?” Elena whispered, leaning towards me, “Those rich brats at school treating you well?”
“Define well,” I replied, and Elena and I shared a chuckle. Elena and I had met at Branson and immediately became good friends, but she was a year and a half older than me. It was probably because of her that I met Dominic and Tray and became a part of the gang.
Dominic cleared his throat, and Elena and I instantly focused on him. When it came to jobs, the briefing was important. If you weren’t paying attention, things could get extremely dangerous, and I definitely didn’t want to be the one to mess up a job and face the wrath of Dominic.
“As a few of you know,” Dominic began, and he cracked his knuckles, “This morning, I was meeting with someone in regards to a job opportunity. Now, the man with whom I was talking is going to remain anonymous, but I’ve decided we are going to take the job.”
Dominic paused for a moment, and he looked around the room at all of us. “Our job is to locate a man who owes our employer a lot of money, and to bring him in.”
“How are we going to do that?” Tray asked, and Dominic gave him an annoyed look. Tray may be Dominic’s little brother, but that didn’t mean he could interrupt him, since Dominic was the leader of our gang. He deserved and demanded respect.
“Sorry,” Tray mumbled, and Dominic nodded once.
“The man we’re going to bring in is Issac Chase,” Dominic continued, “and after contacting my many sources, it seems that he frequents the Bunny Club. That is where we are going to take him.”
Elena and I exchanged a look, and I knew we were both thinking the same thing. So, I voiced it. “Dom,” I said, gaining his attention, “Isn’t the Bunny Club a strip club?”
“Technically, it’s a gentlemen’s club,” Dominic corrected, “But yes, you’re right. I’ve decided to take him from there because he’s most likely to be vulnerable and unfocused.”
“So what’s the plan, Boss?” Holden, one of the other gang members in the room, asked.
“We’re going to infiltrate the club to catch him off guard,” Dominic stated, “Then, we can take him at his weakest. I have an acquaintance who works down there, and he told me he can get two girls in for a night.”
That’s when all of the eyes in the room snapped to Elena and I, and we realized why we were here.
“You want us to strip?” Elena squeaked, zipping her hoodie up over her chest protectively. “Are you serious, Dominic? I am not a fucking hooker!”
