It's worth mentioning how the modern concept of chakras came about. While the idea has been part of many ancient cultures, it was Sir John Woodroffe and his monograph "The Serpent Power" in 1919 which brought it to a modern world. C. W. Leadbeater then wrote about them in 1927 in "The Chakras."
Rosalyn L. Bruyere wrote "Wheels of Light" in 1989 which traces the history of the chakras and discusses how they are well known to many cultures.
In modern times there are of course thousands of books about chakras. They have spread to be just about everything. But it wasn't that long ago, historically speaking, that they were a new and fascinating topic! Often it takes that one spark to light a fire.
