POV: Reader

Everyone is still clapping from Weiss - the heiress to the Schnee Dust Co. and I'm up next. Usually only people in the Schnee family are allowed to sing, but my parents called in and they made an exception. Ok, here I go!

(Play Song)

As I stand on the stage, I have flashbacks from when I was little.

*Flashback 1*

"Daddy! Where are you?!" I cry as I search for him. Mommy walks in the door and I run and hug her legs. "Sweetie, what's wrong?" Mommy asks. "D-Daddy! I can't find him!" I exclaim and continue crying. "Sweetie, Daddy left us last night.."

*Flashback 2*

I open the door to my small house in Vale, to see a man I don't recognize. "Can I help you?" I ask cautiously. "I'm here to see Cosette (L/n). Is she here?" He asks. "Mom!! Someone's here to see you!" I shout into the house. After hearing a faint 'coming!' as a response I motion for him to come inside. He obliged and I close the door to stop cold air from flowing in too much. "Who- oh, um hello Laurence." Mom greets. "Mom who is this guy?" I ask her while eying this 'Laurence' guy. "(Y/n), this is my boyfriend that I've told you about.. Laurence Estora." She introduces.

*Flashback 3*

"I am NOT changing my last name just because she got re-married!"  I shout at my step-dad, slamming my bedroom door shut.

*Flashback 4*

"Hey, Mom?" I ask as I approach her. "Yes sweetie?" She replies. "I was wondering if I could sing at the fundraiser we're going to tomorrow?" I asked with hope in my eyes. "I'm sorry, but I believe that's just for the Schnee heiress." Mom says and I get a disappointed look. "But let me see if I can pull a few strings." She finishes her thought with a caring smile and I get really excited. "Thanks Mom! You're the best!" I exclaim before hugging her.

*Flashback over*

I finish singing the song and claps fill the auditorium. I take a small bow and walk off stage.

▪Itty Bitty Time Skip▪

It's the after party for the fundraiser. There aren't many people here who either want to talk to me or I want to talk to. I see a beautiful painting of Beacon in the back of the room and stand infront of it. "It's .. beautiful." I state in awe. "It was even more amazing in person." Someone says from behind me. I turn to see Weiss Schnee standing straight, looking at the masterpiece before us. "Yeah, I have to agree with you on that." I respond and she gives me a confused look. "When I was younger I lived in Vale with my Mom. We weren't the wealthiest family but also weren't the poorest either." I continue and she nods her head. "Your .. your song was very pretty. Did you write it when you lived in Vale?" Weiss asks politely. "Your voice is amazing aswell. And yes, I did. I didn't want to do music for my whole life though. I wanted to go to Beacon and become a huntress." I reply. "Why didn't you?" She sure is full of questions. "Well, my Mom got re-married and my step-dad said that that job 'isn't proper for an heiress'. So, I couldn't." I answer sadly.
"(Y/n)!!" My Dad shouts and gestures me to come over to him. "My Dad is calling me, I'd better get going. Bye Weiss!" I exclaim as I begin to walk away. "It was nice talking to you (Y/n)." Weiss replies becore going back to looking at the painting...
