A Person of the Past (A Bones FanFic)

Catching a Murderer

Booth was sitting in the chapel trying to figure out who shot his Bones. Who on Gods green earth would shoot her? It had to be someone who had a great distaste for her, but who would hate her that much? Booth understood that Bones had enemies because of what she has done in the past and all the murderers that she had put away. But Bones knows when someone is going to hurt her so it had to be someone that she knew.

Booth went back to the waiting room to see the group. He was going to tell them that he was going to go back to work and figure out who did this, but before he could even say it Cam stopped him.

"I know what you're going to say, and no you are not going to work and figuring this out. We will go back to the lab and find out who shot her. She needs you here and not out there looking for the murderer."

"I'd really appreciate it, Cam."

Cam was taken back a little, she suspected him to protest and say that he would be better out working the case and finding the murderer than here at the hospital. But she assumed that he realized that when she wakes up, she's going to need Booth.

[Back at the lab]

"Look at all this blood" Hodgins said

"How..how did she survive this" Cam said

"God only knows"

"We both know that if Brennan was here she tell us something about how she had enough blood in her body to survive or something like that."

They both shared a laugh.

"When Dr.Brennan and I were buried alive we both thought we were going to die. We thought that we would never see our loved ones again. We both make a promise to each other that we would never let ourselves get into a situation where one of our lives were in peril. And here we are."

"There would have been nothing that you could do Hodgins, none of us knew that this was going to happen."

"I.. just wish that there was a way that I could've helped her. This shouldn't have happened to her."

"I know. I know."

Both Cam and Hodgins share an embrace. Cam looks down at Dr.Brennan's blood and wishes that she should have done something as well. But then she remembers that Dr.Brennan would want them to find who shot her.

"There is something that we can do Hodgins, we are not at a complete loss here."

"And what's that?"

"We can find who did this to her."

[Back at the hospital]

Booth held Brennan's hand as he waited for the love of his life to give him some sign that she was totally coherent. She had been waking up, looking around, and then closing them again. The doctor has said that it was completely normal for people in these types of situation to do that. He just hopes that she knows who did this to her.

Just as Booth had that wish, as if some sort of miracle, she awoken.

"Bones I'm here" Booth said as he stood up so Brennan could see him better.

"Booth.." Brennan said weakly

"Hey hey hey, you're okay. You were shot."

Brennan went to go sit up, Booth promptly stopped her

"No no no, you are going to stay here and lay down. You are going to relax."

"Booth I know who shot me"

"Who?"

"...Hannah."
