"Ah, why must Mama make me do these errands at night?" Marinette groaned as Tikki giggled cutely.
"I'm sure she doesn't mean any harm." Tikki's voice was cheerful as ever and Marinette chuckled at her small friend.
"I know she doesn't." The girl assured her, sending a warm smile her way. "But it still doesn't change the fact that it's cold and also dangerous."
"You're Ladybug," Tikki giggled, flying in front of Marinette. "I'm sure you can handle yourself just fine!"
Marinette couldn't help herself but give Tikki a weird look. On any other night, Tikki would probably be the one freaking out over Marinette being out at almost eleven at night, so it was very weird, and not to mention suspicious, how... Amusing, she seemed to find the situation.
But before the girl could question her, Tikki hurried in hiding herself inside Marinette's purse, right before someone jumped behind them, startling Marinette and, by instinct, making her throw a punch over her shoulder at whoever it was that had decided it'd be funny to assault a young girl, alone at night.
The person yelped in pain and she immediately regretted her actions as she recognized the oh so familiar voice, and turned around with her hands now covering her mouth. Her eyes were wide and a concerned expression masked her face as she stared at her blonde partner, doubled over and clutching his chest in obvious pain.
"Damn, Princess." Chat Noir hissed, rubbing his ribs. "You sure know how to defend yourself." He laughed breathlessly, before hissing again in pain.
"Chat, I, oh my God, I'm so sorry!" She exclaimed apologetically and reached out to touch his arm, but hesitated as he continued to rub his, soon to be, sore ribs. Sucking in a breath, she placed her hands on his arm, and squeezed it slightly.
"No, no..." He brought his other hand to rest on her shoulder and took his hand off of his chest. Smiling down at her, he shrugged carelessly. "It's nothing really and it was my fault. I shouldn't have sneaked up on you like that."
Sighing, Marinette dropped her arms by her side, and looked around uncomfortably. Chat observed her silently still feeling a, not really painful, but sore feeling on his chest area.
"Okay, if you say so." She sighed once again, before turning her gaze towards him. "Anyway, what are you doing here?" Resting her hands on her hips, she raised a questioning eyebrow at him. He, however, couldn't help but think how much she resembled Ladybug with her hands on her hips. "There wasn't an akuma attack, was there?"
Panic flashed in her eyes for a moment, looking around once again before looking at him again with both her brows raised. He too, lifted an eyebrow as she shifted on her feet.
"No, don't worry. Everything's purrfectly fine." She stared up at him with a blank look on her face and he responded by grinning down at her.
"Then why are you out so late?"
"I just wanted to see you, Little Lady."
There was a pregnant pause as they stared at each other with blank expressions on both of their faces, before Marinette groaned loudly and rolled her eyes, just as Chat laughed and tilted his head to the side.
"Yeah, yeah." She couldn't herself from grinning as she shook her head slightly. "Now, seriously, what are you doing here?"
Chat shrugged once again, his hands behind his head now. "I'm just doing my daily walk."
At that, she looked up at him slightly confused. What did he mean by that? Chat Noir and Ladybug only patrolled on Saturdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, but it was Monday. Surely, he didn't mean that he patrolled alone every other night... right?
"Oh, I patrol every night." He explained once he noticed her expression. "Or rather, just go take some walks when I'm not patrolling with my Lady." He finished his explanation, smiling at her.
Her eyes widened a little with that. She wasn't aware of his 'walks' and the thought that he'd ever do something like that, never really crossed her mind until now. When the heck did he even sleep properly?
Before she could ask, however, Chat beat her to it.
"Enough about me, Princess!" He beamed at her, clapping his hands together. "What are you doing out so late, Little Lady?" He repeated her question, leaning slightly forward so he was pretty much towering over her.
"Well, I was just on my way home, my Mama asked me to do her a favor." She answered, before turning around and start walking again, Chat following her closely behind.
"Oh? And would you happen to have anything on you right meow?" He jogged in front of her, walking backwards and winked suggestively at her.
Rolling her eyes with a small smile playing on her lips, she looked inside her bag and took out a small bag full of macarons. Chat's eyes instantly lit up as he stared at the goodies in front of him, and Marinette couldn't stop a chuckle from escaping her lips at his excited expression. She smiled up at him, to which he smiled back happily, and handed him the box.
Taking the box in his hands, he gladly brought a macaron into his mouth, before his eyes widened. "Wow, Princess! These are really good!" He informed her excitedly, munching on another macaron. "Did you make them?!"
"Mhm." She grinned at him, a small blush appearing on her cheeks at the compliment. "So, is there a reason as to why you're following me?"
"Ah, don't worry!" Swallowing what was inside his mouth [( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)], Chat wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "I'm not gonna kill you!"
"Yeah, that makes me feel so much better." She replied sarcastically, before a thought crossed her mind and she mocked him by wiggling her eyebrows as well. "Or else, I'll have to punch you again. Intentionally. And I won't feel sorry."
Chat laughed loudly, making her also smile as she stared up at his happy expression. "Nah, don't worry, that will most definitely like not be necessary. I'm just making sure you get home safe and sound."
Well, that's sweet of him, Marinette thought as she rolled her eyes playfully at him.
"Okay then, thank you." She answered honestly, sending him a grateful smile, but failed to see his cheeks reddening.
The rest of the walk towards Marinette's house was silent, but noT the uncomfortable type of silence, instead they simply enjoyed each other's company while it lasted. There were tiny smiles in each of their faces.
Soon, they reached their destination and stopped in front of her door. Chat looked around, still holding the box of macarons in his hands and she smiled at him.
"And here we are!" She announced, holding her hands behind her back. "Thanks for walking me home, Chat Noir."
"No problem, Princess." He smiled sweetly at her and took one of her hands in his, kissing her knuckles. Strangely enough, Marinette felt her cheeks somewhat burn. "Glad you're safe."
She smiled gratefully at him, and Chat bowed slightly, before jumping to the roof of the building in front of them and out of Marinette's sight, just as Sabine called her from inside.
