5 Years Old :
"You wanna go play?" Asked Valerie.
"Yeah." Nick said. She reached out her hand for him to take. He took it in a heartbeat.
"So what do you want to play?" Asked Nick.
"What is fun for you?"
"How about we play a game where if I think you're lying, I kiss you."
"Kiss me where?"
"On the lips."
"Ew."
"It won't be ew after we do it. C'mon please try it for me. "
"Okay fine." He sat on the grass and patted the seat next to him. She sat down.
"Okay, so do you hate me?" Nick asked.
"Of course not!"
"Okay, do you like like me?"
"No. " He kissed her.
"Do you love me? "
"Yes." He kissed her again. "Why do you think I'm lying?"
"Because I love you more."
10 Years Old :
"Give me my glasses back!" Valerie yelled.
"No. You want it, come and get it." Charlie said. As Nick passed by, he noticed Valerie being tortured by Charlie.
"I can't see!" She cried.
"Well that's too bad." He yelled back. Nick furiously walked over there.
"Hey!" Nick yelled. Valerie heard his voice and automatically knew who it was. Charlie looked up at Nick.
"Oh, look who came to the rescue! " Charlie yelled.
"Give her the glasses back."
"What are you going to do about it?"
"Don't make me come over there."
"Come. At. Me."
"You asked for it." Nick walked up to Charlie and punched him right in the jaw. Because Nick's dad
boxes for fun, he taught him everything he knows. Charlie fell to the floor in pain. He picked up the
glasses from the floor and walked to Valerie. He smiled as he put them on her.
"Can you see now?"
"Yeah." She smiled. "Thank you, Nick." He opened his hand for her. She looked at him, confused.
"We're having dinner at my house today." Her expression didn't change. "We're going to go to my house and play."
"Oh okay." She accepted his hand and they walked all the way home like that.
