In Love With A Certain Fox (A Tomoe Fanfic)

Chapter One

"Razzeliah-sama, time to wake up." I hear two voices say. I groan in response. "Just a bit longer.." I groan. I then feel myself hit the cold floor of my room. I open my eyes to see Jaku, my familiar, standing over me. "Razzeliah, get up you have things to do today," Jaku says. I sigh and begin to get up. "Kuryuri, Fujiki, mind helping me getting dressed?" I look over at the shadow masked will-o-wisps. "Yes Razzeliah-sama!" They nod obediently. I look over at Jaku, who is still in my room. "Do you mind?" I glare at him. He sighs loudly and exits the room. "Jeez what's wrong with him?" I mumble to myself.

I get dressed in my black and grey kimono and I look at the list of what I have to do today. "Eh? Why do I have to visit the mudane world?" I ask out loud. "To greet the new land kamisama of course," Jaku says, suddenly appearing next to me. I flinch at his sudden voice and turn to him. "Don't suddenly appear beside me! You know I get scared easily!" I shout at him. He chuckles and rolls his eyes. I look back down at the list. "So Mikage has decided to leave?" I whisper. Jaku nods slowly. I sigh and look down. "Wish I could've at least said goodbye. Anyways, better start heading down now. Kuryuri, Fujiki! Keep an eye on the shrine!" I shout out. "Of course Razzeliah-sama!" They say in unison. I smile at the two and begin to head out with Jaku. He takes my hand and we get to the mudane world in a few short minutes. As soon as we get to the Mikage shrine I let go of his hand. I stare at the shrine in awe. "Haven't been here in a long time," I murmur. Jaku nods in agreement and we begin to walk towards the shrine. "Razzeliah-sama!" I hear two familiar voices shout out. I turn my head to see Kotetsu and Onikiri running towards me. I smile widely and hold out my arms to the two masked will-o-wisps. They jump into my arms, hugging me tightly. "Its been so long!" Kotetsu whines. "Too long!" Onikiri cries out. I chuckle softly and pet the top of their heads. "Yes it has been a while you two, haven't changed a bit though!" I smile. "Razzeliah!" I hear another familiar voice call out. I look up to see a certain fox yokai. "Tomoe!" I smile widely and run towards the white fox. I jump on him and give him a big hug. I hear him grunt at the sudden impact but then I feel two arms wrap around me back in an embrace. "Its been too long, Razzeliah. You could've came to visit." Tomoe whispers in my ear. "I know, I'm sorry. I've been busy at my shrine." I look up at him. I've had a crush on Tomoe since the first time I've met him 30
years ago.

~Flashback~

"Razzeliah! Come on don't be shy!" I hear my mother call out. I slowly peak out behind the tree I was hiding behind. "Its okay, no need to be scared." She smiles towards me. She holds out her hand and I slowly make my way from behind the tree and walk towards her. "There is a man I want you to meet," My mother says calmly, taking my hand and guiding me towards an unfamiliar shrine. I see a man with glasses standing at the opening of the shrine, along with another man that resembles a white fox. "Mikage, this is my daughter, Razzeliah." My mother smiles at the man now known as Mikage. He looks down at me and smiles. "Well aren't you such a cute little girl?" Mikage smiles and kneels down to my level. I blush and hide behind my mothers legs. "Its okay, I won't hurt you." He says soothingly. I peak out behind my mothers legs but instead of looking at Mikage, I look at the white fox man. "Mommy, who's that?" I ask, pointing at the fox. I hear my mother chuckle. "That my dear, is Tomoe. He is Mikage's familiar." Mother smiles and picks me up. "Familiar? Like Tanake?" I ask. "Yes, exactly like Tanake." She chuckles. Tanake is mommy's familiar, but he's a tiger. I reach arms out towards Tomoe. The fox eyes me weirdly. "Go on, Tomoe." Mikage smiles towards the fox. He slowly walks over to me and takes me from my mothers arms. I clutch onto Tomoe's kimono and look up at him. I stare at his features a bit. He looks down at me, eyeing me oddly. I blush and look down. I nuzzle my face into his chest and begin to relax, the warmth and calmness of him soothing me. I may be young...but I may like Tomoe...

~Flashback End~

Someone else's voice snaps me out of my thoughts. "Tomoe! Who's this?" I hear an unfamiliar voice ask. I notice that I'm still hugging Tomoe and I immediately let go, my face going pure red. "Nanami, this is Razzeliah. The Shadow kamisama." Tomoe says, gesturing towards me. I bow towards the brunette. "Hello, it is very nice to meet you, Nanami. I'm glad to see you're taking very good care of this shrine." I smile at her. She smiles widely at my compliment but I hear a certain 'Ahem!' I chuckle softly. "Oh sorry, and this is my familiar Jaku." I gesture towards the wolf familiar. He bows towards her. "Why don't you two come in?" Nanami suggests. "We would love that," I smile warmly at her and begin to follow her inside, Jaku following behind me and Tomoe walking on the side of me. "So how have things been, Tomoe?" I ask, looking over at him. "Things have been...alright. Besides having to watch over a human kamisama all day everyday," He growls the last part. "What happened to Mikage?" I suddenly blurt out. Tomoe stops in his tracks and looks down. "He left twenty years ago with no explanation..." Tomoe whispers. I mentally slap myself for asking such a personal question. I walk over to Tomoe and hug him tightly. "I'm sorry, Tomoe. I'm sure he had his reasons. You know, you're always welcome to stay at my shrine anytime." I smile at him. He hugs me back, smiling weakly. "I thank you for that, Razzeliah." He whispers in my ear. I blush at that and continue to walk to the shrine with him. As soon as I enter the inside of the shrine, I look around in awe. "This place hasn't changed a bit!" I smile widely. "Razzeliah-chan~!" I hear a voice behind me. I turn around to see a certain snake. "Mizuki? You're here too?" I ask, shocked seeing another familiar here. "Mhm! I'm Nanami-chan's familiar as well!" The green-eyed familiar smiles widely. 'Huh...never knew you could have more than one familiar.' I thought to myself. I turn around and look at Jaku, who's been behind me the whole time. "Hey Jaku? Do you mind going back to the shrine and watch over it with Kuryuri and Fujiki? I'm probably gonna stay here for a few days...if Nanami doesn't mind?" I look over at the human god. "Eh? No of course I don't mind! It would be nice to have another girl here for once!" Nanami smiles. Jaku nods at my request. "Don't stay too long, Razzeliah. You know what happens when you're gone for too long." Jaku sighs. I nod, remembering what happened last time I was gone for a while. Jaku leaves and I sit down beside Tomoe. "So Nanami, how does it feel to be the new land god?" I smile at her. "Its been great! Tomoe has helped a lot," She smiles, blushing when she mentions Tomoe. I feel my heart twinge with jealousy as she blushes at the mention of him. 'No stop it Razzeliah, he is only her familiar!' I thought to myself. "Razzeliah? Are you okay?" I hear Tomoe's soothing voice ask. I snap out of my thoughts to see wisps of shadows surrounding me. "U-Uh yeah I'm fine!" I smile innocently and wave my hand, making the shadows disappear. "What was that?" Nanami asks, fear in her voice. "Usually that happens when something is bothering Razzeliah," Tomoe informs Nanami. I nod and stand up. "I'm gonna take a walk outside for a bit," I fake smile and step outside of the shrine. I look up at the dark night sky and sigh. "Razz, stop falling for him. One, he will never fall for a kamisama. Especially me. Two, if anything, he might end up falling for that human..." I whisper to myself and look down. I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I begin to sing a song my mother used to sing to me when I was younger.

I dance as I sing, using my shadow wisps to create a nice calming effect. As I finish I hear a certain voice behind me. "Wow..."
