"When everything feels normal, things start to change."
I had writer's block, so I split this chapter into 5 parts, because, you know, my word count goal for a completed chapter is 2k words, not counting author note, quotes not dealing with what the characters said, and names of the character's POV.
Also, the chapter parts may seem like I used more telling than showing. I tried editing that, but I think I still did a terrible job, so just hang tight through all of it, I promise it will go back to me showing more than I'm telling. I honestly think I'm doing that because I haven't (or more like didn't have enough time to) read any books in a while.

The alarm clock woke me up from my dream. I really hate alarm clocks. I rolled out of bed and went to the bathroom to get ready for school.
School.
I instantly got excited. I know this isn't the normal mood for waking up early for school, but this is the last time I would see this house for a while. I get to meet new people, get to experience the academy life. Who am I kidding? I would spend most of my time in a library or in the dorm room. At least Ruby would be with me. I smiled at the thought.
I got dressed in the clothes I left out for this morning and brought my bags down stairs. The driver was at the door, ready to take the bags with him. Ruby already put her bags in the car, by the looks of it.
"Maya, come eat before we go." She said. I followed her and did what I was told. The breakfast was sweeter than usually, but I'm not going to complain, I just ate it quickly because I'm ready to go. We finished our food right when Kate walked in.
"I hope you have a great time at school Maya and Ruby. Write to me when you can." She said with a smile. I smiled back. Out of all the Charesters, I'm glad to be on a good note with Kate and Ruby.
"We will." I said, as I got up and Ruby followed.
"Remember to be Ladylike." Brooke said from upstairs. I rolled my eyes.
"No promises," I muttered. Ruby and I hurried into the car before Brooke could come down stairs. The driver shook his head.
"Getting into trouble early, I see." He said. I just laughed, to answer him in a way. The ride to school wasn't that long. The driver helped me and Ruby take our bags to our shared dorm room, apparently its four girls to a room. When our bags were at the beds that we picked, our driver waved bye and we hugged him before he left.
"Let's unpack." Ruby walked to the bed by me. It's obvious that we are both excited for this school day. Our dorm room looks greater than I expected, and also bigger than I expected.
The walls had a beautiful pattern of purple and white outlines of roses along the black walls. There was a chandelier in the middle of the room, which left me with the question of who has the money for all of this. I looked down at my feet to see black wood instead of the sandy color I was used to. There was a giant black rug in the middle of the floor that looked very soft if you touch it. There were bean bags in one corner of the room by a shelf that look like it was for books. This room is perfect.
"Where would you like to go first, Ruby? The eating room or our class?" I asked her.
"Our class, we wouldn't want to be late on our first day all because we lost the chance to find our class early. Oh and don't worry about what class you have to go to, I got our schedule, you left it on the table at home." She smiled.
"Right answer." We got finished with the last bit of clothes and put our suit cases under our beds. Then we left the dorms to find our class in the main building.
The hallways were very crowded and I felt uncomfortable. Ruby must of sense how tense I was because she grabbed a hold of my arm to guide me. When we finally got to the classroom I practically fell in from the hallway rush. If Ruby wasn't there, I would have.
"Maya?" Oh no. I know that voice. I quickly brushed myself off and found a table at the back of the class with Ruby, without looking at Arion. Why he was in this class, this class is for First years, or so I thought. He stops staring at me when the rest of the class came in, and our science teacher. The science teacher was pretty young looking for a teacher.
"Ok class, this is basic science, where you will be learning the basic science of the supernatural world." The science teacher said. I was listening closely to his words when I felt my right side get poked.
"Maya, what was that all about? Why are you in such a rush?" Ruby whispered.
"Nothing Ruby, we should be listening to the teacher."
"I know that, but I need to know what's going on with you and the white haired guy. Do you know him?" she asked. I groaned.
"Is there something you want to say, miss..." the science teacher looked at his role, "Maya? Or are you going to listen to me talk." My instinct was to back talk him, but since science is one of my favorite subjects, and I don't want to get on his bad side, I just zipped up my comment and nodded my head.
"Ok then." I heard a quiet laugh from the front of the class. I looked up to see Arion shaking with laughter. I glared in his direction.
"Tomorrow I will assign you a lab partner. This will be your partner for the first semester, so you might want to be nice to each other and make friends. There's no way out of it." I shivered. I hope I'm partnered up with Ruby. The bell ringed and everyone got up to talk to each other, a few ran out of class before the hallway rush. I kicked myself for not sitting in the front of class to be able to do that.
Arion was crowded with a group of girls, so I was able to escape without him trying to talk to me; Ruby was right on my heels.
"Maya, you have spell casting class with me, it's this way." In my mind, I wonder why science wasn't mixed with spell casting. We left the school building to a smaller building that had about 3 stories. This building was far away from the actual school building itself, maybe for magic reason.
Inside was dark, but with my night vision, I can see like it was light. Ruby whispered a couple of words; I'm guessing it was a spell. We sat in the front left of the class this time.
"Maya, I won't be in your next class, so remember that after your next class you have P.E, after P.E I want you to meet me in the cafeteria, ok?" She looked at me to make sure I caught all of what she had said. I nodded.
"What's my next class?" I didn't look at my schedule at all, I just been following Ruby all day.
"It says Adv. DM, I don't know what that mean, but I know the room number. Room 4B." Room 4B, ok. That's when I heard a crash. Ruby and I looked up to see about 7 students frail around trying to see a metal pencil holder on the ground. Please don't tell me that Ruby and I are the only ones that can see perfectly fine in here.
👑{End of Chapter 5 part 1}👑
Yes, part one of 5 because this chapter was too short. The first day of school is usually one of the longest.
Stay tuned.
