I opened my eyes to the bright yellow and white light and a circle of green. I was in the clearing. I was laid back in the grass, looking up at the sky. Arion was sitting legs crossed in the grass deep thought with a hibiscus between his thumb and index finger.
"Hmm, in the sun without burning or sparkling. That's interesting." He chuckled and put the flower down.
"I'm not a vampire from twilight, darling, and the sunlight doesn't hurt me because this is a dream and also because pureblood vampires don't burn from the sun. Some of us can get sunburns though."
"Great, now I got an image of a sunburned vampire in my head, thanks." We laughed. I really love the sound of his laugh. It was like a mix of good childhood memories and butterscotch. It wasn't something I could describe with another sound.
"Every time I wake up in this place, you are here, not that I'm complaining, but why is that?" I started to lightly pull on the grass.
"You called me here, I'm actually supposed to be listening to the math teacher, but I'm here. I can still hear the classroom around me, but it's like I'm day dreaming, literally." He simply said. "Why are you possibly sleeping in class?"
I thought back to what caused me to be here. I was doing a spell I believe. I hesitated to answer him, but I finally decided to. "One second I was doing a spell to conceal my powers, and I don't know how to do it, then next, I'm here with you." He frowned and looked up at me.
"You must have casted a spell that made you sleep and I somehow sense it and got pushed here." he looked at me concerned. "Have you ever had experience in casting spells before now?" I frowned and focused on the grass again, lightly tugging on it.
"I know that I'm a demon and all, but I wasn't raised like one and I don't know the basics. I'm hopeless if the rest of the school year is like this." He was silent besides me, even after I was finish talking. I opened my eyes and Arion looked to be debating about something in his head. Could be those math equations. I closed my eyes again, to seem like I wasn't staring.
"Maya, you will find the answers to all of your problems sooner or later. Just focus on the now and the future, not the past. It's better that Way, trust me on that." I opened my eyes to ask him what did he mean by not focusing on the past, but he was gone. The trees started to fade away, so did the grass. I was then left in space until it turned into a Nurse's office.
"You're ok, Maya?" Daria looked at me closely.
"Yes. What happened?" I asked. She smiled a little.
"Oh, you just, made up some kind of spell that put you to sleep. Nothing too big. Just had to be reversed by me, they just thought you fainted again." I laughed a little, back to how I embarrassed myself in the auditorium.
"Yeah, I don't know any spells, so I couldn't have known what would happen. I think the teacher just thought I knew because of the pretest in spellology 101 class before this class. A spell was needed to see in the dark, I can naturally see in the dark."
"Don't worry dear; you will get the hang of it. It's in the blood of demons to know these things; it will come to you at some point." She smiled at me. I took this as a chance to get some answers.
"Daria, have we ever met before the school started?" She hesitated on the answer.
"Yes. I used to babysit you when you were younger." She said. I looked at her curiously. I do remember a maid that had the feel of being old, yet young at the same time raising me when I was younger, but the memory was so dimmed and foggy.
