Dorothy Jane Scott
Dorothy Jane Scott was a single 32-year old mother who had been getting anonymous calls at her work. She was never able to identify the voice, which swung from telling her how much he loved her to threatening to do unspeakable violence. The caller had followed her around all the time and was able to tell her the details of her day-to-day life just to prove it. She had bought a handgun and learned karate to protect herself. After taking someone to the ER to help treat a spider bite on May 28, She left to pull her car up front. Her companions waited for her for a while. When they had finally spotted her car, it was driving at a high speed and took a sharp turn out of the parking lot. They were confused by her behavior. They thought that she had probably taken her son in for an emergency but later found her car 10 miles away in an alley burned and abandoned. Even though the car was there, there was no sign of Dorothy. A week after she went missing her mother got a call asking if she was related to Dorothy. When she said yes, the caller said "I've got her," and then hung up. Weeks after weeks this had gone on. The same caller had kept calling saying that he had her and even said to a radio station saying that he had her and he killed her and that she was his love. He gave details that had not been released to the press the calls finally stopped in 1984.
Four month later dog and human remains were found by construction workers, as long as a watch that had stopped on May 29, 1980, 12:30 a.m. It was later identified as Dorothy's. The family got two more calls asking, "Is Dorothy home?"
The killer was never identified.
