Audrey's POV

I had so many questions racing through my mind as my heartbeat became faster and faster. I had to get out of the store before he sees me. Why would he be so nice to me if he hates me? Why did he even talk to me? Was this all a trick? I grabbed my backpack and headed for the door.

"Wait." I hear someone say. I am then frozen with fear. That voice belonged to Tyler. I could hear the footsteps get faster coming towards me until they came to a stop behind me. "Where are you going?" "H-home." I stutter. "We let me walk you home, then?" "Don't you have something better to do rather than being out in the cold with me?" Stop asking questions. I think. I raise my arms up to protect my head. "We actually I don't. Just trying to pass the time that's all." I let me arms fall to their sides surprised. He didn't hit me for the second time.

"So how far do we have to go?" He asked. "Seven blocks." I say not really wanting to reach the destination. I actually had two homes since my parents are divorced. One at my mom's that we are going to. I think the house was a fairly large house that had two floors, and one attic. There was a walkway that wrapped around the house. I would rather be at my mom's house rather than my dad's. My dad had changed a couple of years after the marriage. He was no longer that lovable dad, he was the abusive one. When I go there, I spend my time hiding from him. But there were also cons at my mom's. When she got divorced, she decided to throw herself into her work instead of dealing with the pain. Which leaves me the responsible one to take care of the kids. Thankfully, I got today off because my mom stayed home while I took the usual trip to Barnes and Noble which didn't go as planned.

"You seem quiet. Tell me about yourself. What about your family? What are they like?" "Why do you even want to know about me anyway? It's not like you are doing a project or anything." Why do I keep asking questions? I think to myself. "If you haven't noticed I am trying to pass the time." He says like it's the most obvious thing in the world. "Well fine if you are trying to 'pass the time'," I put my hands up to try to represent quotation marks. "Then I guess I will tell you about my family, but on one condition. You must answer one of my questions." "That seems reasonable. So what are they like?"

"I have two siblings. One brother named Kyle who is six. You can't leave him alone for one second. If you do, there is bound to be something wrong." Tyler chuckles at my statement. "He will never turn down a chat with someone, and will always leave you smiling at the end. He can be very energetic, and you can always imagine him bouncing off the walls. I also have a sister named Ellie. She is five. She is really shy, but once she warms up to you, you have a snuggle buddy for life. She is really smart, and most of the time can think of things on her own. She loves to read. Sometimes I will buy her a book, and you are not getting it back for a while. She is more the quiet person and stays by the window, and looks out into the world."

"Kind of like you."

"Yeah, I guess you could say that." The was a silence between us. "So now for my question."Why exactly would you be spending your weekend at 11:00 on a Saturday with me? Don't you have like some party to go to?"

"Well I was going to go to one, but my car got stolen by my best friend who was waiting in the car. Then I came into the store, and saw you, and got curious about you. You looked like you almost belonged there. Like it was you home."

"I wish it was my home." I mumbled under my breath.

"Why?"

"Oh. Um.. I just love all the books there. You know, if your suck here with me why don't you have one of your other friends pick you up?" I say rudely.

"Fine. Maybe I will. But it doesn't kill you to have an actual conversation with someone. You don't have to alone the rest of your life!"

"Me? You are the one going around school bringing people down so you can feel good about yourself. Oh, and did I forget to mention, you hit them! I would rather have no friends, and be alone for the rest of my life than be like you!"
