Audrey's POV
I woke up to see white. White walls. White curtains. This could only mean one thing. I was in the hospital. I let myself get to me. I was weak. But like all the other times, I wasn't alone. There was a figure that looked crumpled up in the chair. I could see the boy shaking, and I could hear sobs coming from him. I wasn't sure who he was, but he looked like his heart has been shattered into a million pieces. The pain seems to strike, and I gasp in pain. My wrists have been bandaged, but it is full of blood. My eyes scrunch up, and I try to bare the pain. I open my eyes once the first wave of pain goes away. The boy looks at me, and I see that his eyes are bloodshot. That boy was Tyler. "What are you doing here?" I say with a voice that could slice through stone. "Well, if you haven't noticed you are in a hospital, and no one has come to visit you. Also, there is the fact that you almost killed yourself. Why would you do that?" He asked me.
"You don't know anything about me. You don't know about anything I go through. I don't even know why you are here."
"But I want to know you. I want to help you. I care about you."
I snort at that comment. "You care? Yeah, I totally thought you cared when you slapped me."
"Look. That was the past. I will never do that again." He says with a sad look on his face.
"And how can I trust you?"
"I know that I have to earn your trust back. But please, just give me a chance." He pleads.
"Get. Out." I say. He will never be my friend. Not when he was with Thomas.
"But I don't see anyone else here."
This makes my heart sink with disappointment. It always does. No one ever comes to see me. They are always "busy." They don't even bother to see me in the hospital.
"They never come." I mutter under my breath. "What?" Tyler asks.
"Get out!" I say.
"Please, don't do this. I want to help you."
"Why wouldn't I? I hate you." I say coldly.
"I am not leaving. I have been waiting three days for you to wake up. No way am I leaving now."
Why would he wait three days for me? I was nothing special. Even he saw that.
"So you are just going to sit there? Because there is no way I am answering your questions about my personal life. It's none of your business."
"C'mon Audrey. Please." He says trying to give me pleading eyes.
"You think that's going to work on me? Because if you did, you can get out."
"What are you going to do? Kick me out?"
"Why didn't I think about that? Doctor!" The doctor enters the room.
"Can you please get this man out of my room?" I ask.
"No. Please Audrey! Don't do this!"
I just cross my arms.
"You heard her. You need to leave this room." The doctor says.
"But there is no one here for her!" Tyler begins to protest.
The doctor began to drag him out of the room.
I was happy that he was gone, but there was also a little piece of my heart that wished he'd stayed.

Tyler's POV
She hated me. No, she despised me. How was I ever going to make it up to her? Why did she want to end her life? She was so beautiful, and talented. I wanted to show her that. But how was she ever going to let me in?
I needed to come up with a plan.

Audrey's POV
A few days have passed, and I got out of the hospital. Ellie and Tyler were so excited to see me. The first time I was in the hospital, they made a bunch of cards for me. But now, I guess they are used to it. I still got a hug from both, and an "I love you." I was ready to go to bed, but they weren't ready for me to leave. So I sat in the living room staring at my bandaged arms, while they watch TV.
I couldn't let myself go to the hospital again. I'm afraid if I do, I will never come out of it. I reach into my pocket to see the usual card. A number to call to go see a social worker. They must be mistaking if they ever think that I will go. I have other important things to do. I can take care of myself. I don't need any help. If people haven't noticed, I have two kids that I have to take care of, and they aren't even mine. Don't think I don't like to do it because I do, but the point is if they don't get fed by me, they aren't fed at all.
"I have to go to bed guys. Where's mom?" Kyle gives me a look, and I already know where she is. Work. And she left these guys home alone. Who knows what could have happened when she was gone. "Well come on guys, we are going to have you take your nap because I don't think you bothered to have one." I say with a smile.
"Fine." Kyle says and turns off the TV. Ellie speaks up and asks "Can you sing again? You have a pretty voice."
I laugh. "Well I think that I am far away from being a professional, but we can read a story instead. And we can all sleep in my bed." I say, and they cheer.
I follow them up the stairs to see what book they pick out. I always dreamed of mom reading a book to me, and me getting sleepier and sleepier until I couldn't keep my eyes open. Except she never had the time, and there was many nights I would lay awake, making up my own story in my head.
I see that they picked out the story If you Give a Mouse a Cookie which was one of my favorites. I always loved the pictures because the house always looked like a home, as if there was something important inside. I jump onto my bed, and smile at them. "Come on, get under the covers." I say, and they race towards the bed. I open the book, and the story comes to life.
