My heart beats a little faster when I realize I have no weapon. I study him for a second. He's leaning causally up against the wall, like he lives here. His hood is still covering his eyes and hair but his lips and jaw are still visible. He's got brown scruff making him look like he didn't shave this morning and full pink lips. I look around the room for anything I can use as a weapon and he seems to have notice.

“Don't," he says in a threatening tone. “I just want to talk,” he holds his hands up by his head indicating he means no harm.

“So talk,” I demand.

He sighs and lifts his hand up to his hood. He slowly takes it off making the anticipation grow. Its finally off and I'm shocked. He has to be the most gorgeous man I have ever seen. His hair is dark brown and styled in the 'I just got out of bed look.' He is tall maybe 6ft 2in and has the most piercing green eyes that are absolutely beautiful. He's dressed in all black and you could tell this guy was very muscular. He looked about 30.

He took a step forward and I instantly backed away till I hit the sink.

“I need you to stop investigating this case,” he states.

My mind starts to go into overdrive. Why does he want me to stop? Is he one of the killers? Did he kill me mom? Does he want to kill me? How the hell am I going to get my gun? The last question made me to start to think of an escape plan. He takes another step towards me and I slide to the right where the door is.

“Why? What does the case have to do with you? Did you kill Alison Crater?” he walks closer and I step back closer to the door. ' Almost there,' I think.

“No, but the people that did, do not play nice. You need to back off,” he warns.

“Yeah, someone breaks into a detectives house and expects her to listen to whatever he says?” I say sarcastically. “That's going to happen.”

“The people killed your mom and they can't be arrested. Its impossible. So give up now.”  My throat closes at the mention of my mom.

“You shouldn't have told me that they killed my mom, because now I will never give up trying to find them and put them away for life," I said with venom.

He groans exasperated. “Listen, these guys will kill you without any remorse. And if you keep sticking your nose where it don't belong, they will kill you before you could get a good look at their faces,” he said taking another step. This time I didn't move. He was trying to help me? Or just doesn't want these people caught?

“I have to find my mom's killers. I have to put them behind bars,” I start to raise my voice. “I have to find peace,” I said quietly. More to myself than the mysterious man in front of me.

“I know," he said and took a deep breath. “But you can't, you will die before finding justice.” He actually looked pained. I decided to drop it. Nothing in the world would make me stop hunting my mom's killers but he didn't need to know that.

“Who are you?” I look in his amazing green eyes.

“Damian.” He didn't say anything else holding my gaze.

“Got a last name?” I needed more info on this guy.

“No, you will just search for me tomorrow if I tell you.” He wasn't wrong I planed on looking this guy up and check is priors then add his to the list of suspects.
