Cheshire sat in the corner of her cell, her orange prisoner garb clashing with her light blue and teal hair. She was caught by Batman three years ago and was brought to Belle Reve Penitentiary. He told her she would be safe and so far he was right. She was in a low security cell with bars for the wall that faces the hallway, though she started in a high security one. Cheshire never made trouble, though she did wander the halls often, and the guards liked her for that. The guards that were sent to guard her often talked with her or took her for walks out in the halls. Today was another day as she stared out the barred window that faced the outside.

She smiled a large smile as she held onto the ledge for the window to wait for the sunrise when she heard a knock on the bars. Cheshire dropped to the floor and turned to see the two guards for her cell standing their each with their hands behind their backs. "Cheshire, it's your eighteenth birthday and me and Ryan have gotten permission to take you outside." She grinned her wide pointed tooth smile as they opened the door. The guards that were at the door, Hale and Ryan, thought of Cheshire as a little sister. When they opened the door Cheshire gave each of them a hug and they set off down the hall, Hale on her left and Ryan on her right.

All three came to a stop at a large solid iron door with a panel to slide to the side for communication. The guard standing by the door nods at her to open the panel, for she had been here many times before. "Floyd?" She asked quietly her teal cat eyes looking through the opening. After a few moments of silence she heard a response,

"Chess? Nice to hear you again." She smiled a wide grin her eyes dancing with happiness at being able to talk with him, and excitement at getting to go outside,

"You too, just wanted to stop by and have a quick chat before I get to see my birthday present!" She was jumping up and down like the child she was never allowed to be. Ryan and Hale chuckled at her antics. "I get to go outside, Floyd, outside! I wanna feel the grass and see the clouds and smell fresh air!"

"That's great Chess, bring me back a flower." She could hear the smile in his voice as he said it. Floyd thought of Cheshire as his daughter and was happy that she could find so much joy at going outside, but was also sad that she could find so much joy at going outside, it was such a simple thing.

"I will Floyd, I promise!" Quickly she said bye and the guard next to the door shut the panel. Hale patted her shoulder and they set off down the hall. Cheshire was skipping back and forth, from one wall to another, as they made their way to the door. The guards that saw her chuckled at her antics as they often saw her around the halls. Her hair swished around as she skipped and eventually got the idea to take a bath, in her mouth. Making a disgusted noise she pulled the hair from her mouth and tucked it behind her ear saying, "You have short hair, you don't have these problems!" As to which they fell into a giggle fit and Ryan ruffled her hair.

They walked the rest of the way to the door outside quietly talking and joking. Hale had her arm around her and was telling her about the things she had forgotten about the world outside the walls of the prison. Warning her about how bright it would be since it was high noon he scanned his card and typed in the code to the door. Slowly, Hale opened the door and Cheshire squinted against the bright light. Once her eyes adjusted she ran through the door and stopped when was five meters from the door she left from. Her hands when to her wide smiling mouth and her eyes filled with tears of joy as she saw the world outside and everything she had forgotten after her three years in the prison.
