Nightmares

A small girl laid curled up in the middle of a concrete box, no doors or windows just a single light bulb . Her light blue and teal hair was dripping with blood. Screams echoed off the empty walls as disembodied voices jeered at her. A loud scream was let out as a long, deep wound was slowly cut into her calf. Blood spurted from the wound and her skin turned even more pale under the flickering bulb that was the only real detail in the room. That was when her monsters of parents flickered into existence before her eyes. Her sadistic mother was the one that cut into her calf, the knife now visible and still embedded in her leg.

Another scream tore at her abused throats as she tried to crawl away from her parents. Blood gushed from the wounds she made in them before they died. Her fathers nails dug into her skin and left deep gouges. He smiled with sadistic pleasure and licked the blood and flesh from his fingernails and hands. The girl screamed as she felt as if her entire body was burning then doused in cold water just to burn again. Tears fell down her face as the jeering became distorted and menacing.

Her parents spoke in unison, "You'll never get rid of us, you asked for it. It's all your fault. You will never be loved, never have friends, you will die sad and alone." As they spoke their eyes were alight with sadistic pleasure and they happily laughed at her suffering. Claw-like scratches dug into the small girl and another scream tore at her throat. Her mother tittered with laughter while her father let out a psychotic chuckle as they watched their own daughter suffer. The small girl saw a ethereal blue butterfly flutter near her head, working through the pain she caught it.

Cheshire's teal cat eyes shot open and sat up as quick as a bullet. Her body covered in a sheen of sweat, she crawled further backwards into the corner. Her cat eyes wide and scanning the room, tear tracks staining her face. She definitely wasn't going to succumb to sleep's song soon.
