"What about this one M'lady?" Aafje holds up a pale blue, short sleeved, knee length dress. I sit with my legs crossed on the large woollen rug that lays across my floor and shake my head as I fiddle with the strings hanging off the end of the rug.
"May you have to choose one, you can't go naked." I giggle and look up.
"And why not?" She crouches down in front of me.
"Because you would freeze, your fingers and toes will turn blue and fall off." I laugh and point to the dress that hangs at the back of the closet. Its a floor length, pale purple dress with sleeves that cover my knuckles. The gold pattern embroidered into its fabric glistens in the sunlight pouring into the room. I stand up and Aafje hands the dress to me, the cold silky fabric sliding over my hands.
"It's a good choice M'lady." I stand in front of the wall length mirror and hold it up.
"Definitely this one." I close my eyes, feel the fabric and nod. "Can you help me?"
